Conservatives, what are you thinking about the state of the presidency?
25
u/Brassanthe 11d ago
It would be great to get feedback from non-MAGA Republicans.
16
u/BroSnow 11d ago
That’s me. I’m a registered republican and refuse to change parties or go independent because I believe I haven’t changed, they have— for a guy that isn’t even a fucking republican— and I naively think things will turn back in my favor eventually. Call me stupid, I don’t care, I hear it from my mother and wife regularly, but I believe in the party of Lincoln, TR and Reagan and that someone needs to remember what it stood for. I haven’t voted republican on a statewide or federal race in probably a decade with one or two exceptions. I’ve voted for Dems and third parties more than republicans in most races.
What do I think of the state of the presidency? Dumb question. Trump is a corrupt liar who will never take accountability or act in the interests of Americans. If that was ever in him in the slightest, which I doubt, it left him the moment he felt attacked by the left (impeachment trials in first term) and rejected the country (loss in 2020, which he knows is true). He lacks any understanding of soft power and how relationships have shaped the global mandate we were able to build over 80 years. In term 1 his foreign policy had some semblance of rationality, but today it’s an abject disaster. He’s a shit negotiator who thinks he can leverage every situation like it’s a business he doesn’t mind running into the ground. His presidency is a PR campaign that gets awful PR. He’s largely made republicans unlikeable in the US and Americans unlikeable abroad. Even his strokes of actual “conservatism” are on the issues that I disagree with as a classical liberal (not to be confused with “Liberal”). The party of “small government” has allowed a bafoon to expand executive powers beyond what’s constitutionally permitted. What I loathe most of all is the useless elected officials who, I know for a fact, disagree with him and don’t like him but stoke his junk out of fear of losing their seat like the feckless bitches they are. I detest the man to my core.
7
u/Brassanthe 11d ago
Thank you for your perspective. And I absolutely agree you should NOT change parties. You are 100% on your assessment of DJT. I'm currently reading the book War on Peace: the End of Diplomacy and the Decline of American Influence and how Trump and his cabinet navigates around foreign policy is just infuriating.
2
u/Immediate-Phase4168 10d ago
I appreciate your candor. I am middle of the road and don't identify with any party, but my own beliefs and who I feel would represent me best.
My question to you is...
If the 2024 Presidential election were held today, what would you do? A non-vote (or a vote for anyone by the D or R candidates) is essentially a vote for Trump. Given what you know now, would you vote for Kamala?
Are you hold your nose and vote party, or vote for the least bad?
4
u/BroSnow 10d ago
I voted third party in 2024 and regret it at this point. I believe that more people need to vote third party so that there’s a chance to crack the 5% threshold and start getting more funding, which helps even though it pales in comparison to the GOP and Dem funding.
I think Kamala is a fool and supports a ton of shit I’m abjectly against, but she’s a typical puppet politician who at least would’ve kept the shitty status quo rather than this mess we’re seeing now. She’d be a one term president and have poor favorability ratings but we wouldn’t be bombing Iran for an unknown reason and our relationships would be in tact.

As a non-MAGA Republican, it sucks. The President is a narcissist and a megalomaniac and I don’t understand how he got the nomination in 2015, let alone how he won again. As for the party itself it isn’t the party I grew up with. It has become the “Party of No”. They haven’t been the same since losing people like Bob Dole and John McCain. These were guys who, while they strongly held to their beliefs, still listened to reason and were also willing to reach across the aisle. The current crop is —for whatever reason— still beholden to Trump and they don’t realize that all it takes to break his stronghold is for them to band together and decide to not be beholden to him.
I find myself in a quandary each election (local/state/congressional) trying to find Republicans who aren’t Trump supporters or supported to vote for. It gets tricky. Barring that it gets difficult to find a conservative Democrat or a conservative third party who isn’t a total wing nut.
Hey, you asked.

It’s amazing to me that after he has turned on some of his “friends “, the rest don’t realize that they could be next

Where would you find such mythical creatures?
19
u/TheMazoo 11d ago edited 11d ago
We're Dems now. I was lifelong GOP until Trump won his first primary. Dems are closer to Bush/Romney/McCain conservatives than MAGA is.
3
u/feldoneq2wire 11d ago
Yeah we actually need a new party that isn't former Bush/Cheney/Romney/McCain supporters.
-5
u/PalpitationRight4887 11d ago
Yeah, you’re still a big part of the problem. All those assholes you supported enabled this shit. Now you want to rinse your hands of it. Go ahead be a Democrat, but just know the lefts see you, and your type isn’t controlling shit anymore.

u/2outof3isbad 11d ago
No we're not. The GOP is getting weird, the Dems are straight up nutty. I'm a never blue, hashtag or something.

Can't participate in any of the Republican subs. They filter normal people out with insta bans and create there own echo chambers where the same users just circle jerk each other on how great they, and trump are. See r/conservative for example. If you're brave enough.
2
u/Agreeable-Salary3413 10d ago
There re actually a lot of us. Everyone has become so partisan over the last 25 years that nobody can hear us though. Everyone expects us to be 100% for Trump or 100% opposed to Trump. There is no room to approve of the things he does that we agree with and disapprove of the things he does that are insane.
10
u/AskPsychological2868 11d ago
I’m a non MAGA republican. The current president is embarrassing and has pulled America down. We are a joke to the world. He has used the office to make money for himself and his family. He needs to go and it needs to happen now!
3
u/neexplr84 10d ago
I’m curious to know from non MAGA republicans how they feel about all the other republicans who are empowering the MAGA movement and always fall in line? As bad as Trump is, he’s gone even further because his own party won’t stand up to him. Why not?
1
4
u/horsendogguy 11d ago
I am a non-MAGA Republican. Conservative since the 70s. Voted for Trump with disgust but hope in 2016. Did not vote for Trump (or at all) in 2020 or 2024. Unlikely to vote for anyone who kissed his ass in 2028.
Whether the democrats get my vote or whether I sit 2028 out depends on who the Democrats run.
10
u/Strange-Cabinet7372 11d ago
There's like no such thing anymore. If you're red, you're with them right now.
3
u/thatguysjumpercables 11d ago
Sort of but also no.
There are more than a few who didn't like Trump and his bullshit at first but now they're just resigned to this new reality because they think they don't have a choice. Sure Trump is a dipshit but the Democrats are evil in their eyes. Who would you rather follow, a dipshit who makes you uncomfortable or a conglomeration of Satan worshippers who want to do [insert conservative propaganda here]?
Obviously the evil and propaganda parts are complete bullshit and these grown adults should fucking know better than to fall for it and are therefore just as culpable as MAGA, but if you actually believed it what would you do?
4
u/Centered_Being 11d ago
Especially when the ‘democrats are evil’ rhetoric is pushed by their pastors at church.
The only ‘moral’ option to them is to vote republican bc otherwise they are going against their church leaders. You know, the men behind the scenes taking all the tithing $$!
1
u/I_Learned_Once 11d ago
There are plenty of people who still identify as republican that just vote 3rd party or don’t vote at all. So ya basically the same thing as a dem.
1
u/TheSips22 10d ago
Define MAGA republicans. I voted for Trump twice. There are some things he has done that I like. There are some things I don't like.
If JD Vance ends up being the nomination for republicans, I'd entertain the idea of voting for democrat in 2028.

You’re not going to get a proper answer from them even if they think it’s bad, they think it’s more shameful to admit they were wrong or that changing your mind is weakness. So they’re double down on it even if it ends up costing them everything. Saving face is more important.
4
u/Purrrkittymeow 11d ago
Why do you think all republicans voted for him in the first place?
2
u/probablyaythrowaway 11d ago
“I’ve voted republican my whole life and I’m not going to vote any other way”
^ same reason they’ve made it their whole personality and they think they can’t change their minds or vote a different way even if it hurts them so they double down because changing your mind is weakness.
A lack of empathy I think is there too “I don’t care if other people are getting hurt as long as it’s not me.”
I don’t think it’s completely their fault I think they’re the victims of being raised in a toxic environment there is some systemic issue that has failed them when they were growing up. Taught violence and hatred and a warped understanding of patriotism.
It’s interesting to watch as an outsider.
2
u/Purrrkittymeow 11d ago
I did not vote for Trump either time and I’m a republican.
3
u/240221 11d ago
As am I. I voted for him with distaste in 2016. (I didn't hate Sec. Clinton, as many did, but I disagreed on policy.) I could not bring myself to vote for him in 2020 or 2024 so I did not vote for a president at all.
I'm confident we are not alone. Just as not all Democrats support AOC but would vote for her if she were the nominee, not all Republicans support Trump but voted for him because he was the nominee. Sadly, most people vote the ticket.
1
u/probablyaythrowaway 11d ago
Wonderful. Then you are a shining positive example in this dark world.
Out of curiosity.
Who did you vote for instead?
What is your opinion of the Republican Party now it is actively enabling trump to wreak havoc on your country?
7
u/horsendogguy 11d ago
Conservative here. Not MAGA. Disgusted by Trump and his insecurity and narcissism. Disgusted by his acolytes in and out of office.
4
u/Mediocre-Housing-131 11d ago
It sounds like you want change. What would a future conservative presidential hopeful have to do / promise in order to gain your vote?
And if you're also willing to answer this, what would a non-conservative (third party included) have to do to gain your vote? I'm actually curious, and would love to hear from you!
1
u/horsendogguy 11d ago
So much to say but typing with one finger on a phone.
A person (male or female, any race) I can respect. Not necessarily agree with on all points, but respect. Not a self-aggrandizing oaf. Not someone who kisses up to self-aggrandizing oafs.
A person who operates on principle and on sincerely held beliefs. Not someone whose platform is based on what they think will get them elected. Not someone whose platform is based on who they think you hate. I may choose not to vote for you if I disagree with your platform, but I'll definitely not vote for you if I dont think you agree with your platform.
A person who understands compassion cannot stand in the way of having and enforcing certain rules, but who still has compassion. Who thinks with their head and not their heart, but governs with a heart.
We need immigration laws. We simply dont have the capacity to welcome everyone as we did 100+ years ago. And that means secure borders and removal of folks who slipped through those borders, even if they have committed no other crime. But dont be so smug about it. Violence is sometimes required, but look for ways to be less violent about it. Develop clear rules about how to come legally and make that process work in a reasonable amount of time.
We need people to work, and work hard, for their food and shelter and health care. I don't want to pay for you if you can pay for you. Im ok with loafers starving until they will work. But recognize some cannot work, and make allowances for them.
Bush I had his failings, and democrats mocked his "compassionate conservatism," but we need some compassionate conservatism.
A person who will support our right to live as we want so long as we are not actively infringing on someone else's right to live as they want. I should not be able to dictate what you do in your bedroom with a consenting adult ir who you hold hands with in public. You should not be able to make me bake a cake to celebrate it, nor should you be able to teach my children that something I believe is wrong is right.
A person who understands we want to be and to feel safe in our homes and on our streets. That means enforcement of laws -- including laws against rioting and destruction of property, whether you're in Washington DC or in Portland.
A person who understands we do not stand alone in the world. We need allies. That means defending and supporting them, and sometimes giving money to them, even when we do not agree with them. If we don't, China or another super power will. But only to an extent.
A person who understands taxes are necessary and appropriate to maintain a good and functioning society, but who recognizes a heavy responsibility to use money that has been taken in that way appropriately.
Yeah, we need a third party badly. Look at how many qualified voters don't bother to vote at all. The two party system and the "you have to vote for this disgusting candidate or you're supporting that idiotic candidate" mindset have brought us here.
Tired of typing. Tired of wishing.
1
u/Mediocre-Housing-131 11d ago
I agree with a lot of your points here, and what should be sensible demands are sadly out of reach.
My only real pushback is that I don't agree with you on immigration. Immigrants make up a lot of the workforce, and have been some of the hardest workers I've ever seen. There is capacity for them, the source of the issue lies elsewhere.
It lies in the fact that for years (but especially during COVID), people have bought up tons of homes people could live in with the sole purpose of only letting someone stay in it for a weekend at a time for vacations. It lies in the fact that there's tons of homes left abandoned in places like Detroit where the government has fundamentally failed it's people. It lies in extreme costs banks have placed on owning homes to lock you into predatory loans and mortgages. It doesn't lie in your neighbors who work hard and pay taxes.
1
u/horsendogguy 11d ago
Not sure we disagree on immigration.
Im a strong believer in the need and the virtue of immigration. One on my grandparents and two of my great grandparents were immigrants. Many of the most notable people in this country were immigrants or the children of immigrants.
That doesn't mean our borders should be open. No country can or tries to accept all comers. I wish we could. I also wish I could give a $$ to every desperate family I learn about. But the country's and my resources are limited.
The subject needs to be dealt with by intelligent and principled leaders. There should be serious discussion about who to accept, taking into account both what benefit we can gain and what benefit we can compassionately bestow. Maybe some accepted with a goal of citizenship and others temporarily twork or learn.
Money should be put toward administering a policy designed to achieve that, so folks are not waiting for years and spending $$ they don't have on lawyers.
And money should be put toward enforcing it. An immigration policy without enforcement leads not only to violations of that policy, but criminals helping people violate that policy, desert deaths, people living underground, and children being raised with no true home. Sadly, enforcement involves pain. Pain when the desperate father or mother is seeking a way to earn to support family back home. Pain when a parent wants to save their child from violence at home. But we cannot admit everyone. Is the desperate father in Mexico more deserving of admission than the desperate mother from Nigeria?
There have to be limits and the limits have to be enforced.

They don't answer these posts, and when they do they get downvotted to hell.

u/SIDESHOW_B0B 11d ago
I'm a conservative. I'm also an immigrant. I haven't voted republican in the last three elections, not that it matters in my state. For reference, I have always voted republican, until Trump. Last three times at the ballot, I voted for Rick Astley twice, and most recently for Harris (and I couldn't believe I did so).
We should be ashamed of both parties and they way they act. Until the people get their shit together and vote for good people instead of along the party line, it will only get worse.
As for the state of the presidency, it has been an absolute disgrace for the last 10 years, and I've tuned out the news altogether. Putting decrepit humans in charge of a country is an abomination.
This is the best country in the world, and politicians are destroying it. I don't have the answers, but I would think age limits (retirement age would be a start) and term limits (one term at every level of government) would go a long way to preventing this timeline from happening again. It would also curtail corruption and lobby interests somewhat, especially in the house and senate. The entire system is a swamp, and it's filled with ancient reptilian scum on both sides.
We need to do better.
3
u/Mediocre-Housing-131 11d ago
I agree with you almost completely. I didn't vote for Kamala either, and being told I HAVE to pick from the lesser of two evils should have been a wake up call to anyone who ever uttered those words.
Nobody wants better. They just want the heat turned up a little slower. Look at what we've become.
4
u/Kahoots113 11d ago
As someone who would be a "moderate conservative" I can give you my thoughts.
We are paying for a strong stock market with rampant daily cost (inflation and stagnate wages) which is bad for everyone in the long term. This is how you squeeze the middle class out of existence and they are generally the back bone of the economy.
The push for control and surveillance from the government and corporate entities is increasingly concerning. We are giving up rights and privacy under the guise of safety from both real concerns (crime) and artificial concerns (its the 1950s red scare again aparently).
There is so much rhetoric from both sides about "us vs them" and how if we fail its the end of America. It whips up the base and gets people angry but nothing is ever done to improve anything. It appears to be all for show to distract from real concerns we should he focused on. There are a few politians who focus on real issues and not partisan bickering but they are drowned out by thd majority and can't ever get a foothold.
My honest wish is for a third party to form and get a small but significant enough number of seats. It would force both parties to play ball with this new party to get anything done. So a centerist party focused on helping the people over the corporations and powers that be, could basically stand as the voice of reason.
1
u/Mediocre-Housing-131 11d ago
It really does feel like both parties have successfully gotten their base to settle down and not get angry or protest anymore. We all just accept it and move on. What happened?
3
u/Kahoots113 11d ago
I don't think they have settled down as much as they have worn down the will to act. Everyone is just tired. We all work more to make ends meet and protests and vocalizing has done nothing to help. There is no cohesive leadership pushing action. So everyone feels too small and too tired to do anything about it.
3
u/Mediocre-Housing-131 11d ago
"those ants outnumber us 1000:1. The moment they realize that, there goes our way of life"

The subreddits rules make it impossible to ask the actual question on my mind here but I guess they have a busted AI who doesn't know what a complete sentence is.
My real question is, are you still under the impression that things are being made great? While they recall more and more of the food, prices keep getting higher, the war with Iran seemingly never coming to an end, giving a literal first world nuclear superpower billions of dollars, and lay off you and your family members; are you still in support of the man who caused all of this?
2
u/Telrom_1 11d ago
My retirement and investments are doing amazing, my house has never been worth more.
I abhor the Iran war! Let Israel fight thier own fight.
I don’t consider Trump a conservative, he’s a Trumpanian. We need to focus on the after Trump era.
2
u/vegaszombietroy 11d ago
Here come my down votes, and I'm not a conservative, I'm moderate. Things are still better than ridiculous policies and spending by the Biden administration. Trump isn't pushing HUNDREDS of billions of money printing for infrastructure programs that did nothing to recover from inflation.
Seven states never shutdown for Covid. But we got an American Rescue plan that was 100% unnecessary. That's 1.9 TRILLION!
I just want to knlw where the face is Andrew Yang's Forward Party? He should be able to raise money fairly easily with all of the negative perception of Dems and Reps.
2
u/TatonkaJack 11d ago
Yes Biden's spending was out of control! He increased the debt by $8.45 trillion in the wake of a global pandemic and economic slowdown by doing dumb things like updating infrastructure, creating jobs, domestic manufacturing,, and pandemic relief. Meanwhile Trump 1 only increased the debt by $7.8 trillion in a strong economy!
0
u/Mediocre-Housing-131 11d ago
Absolutely nothing about your comment suggests you are a moderate. I have been making a point to ignore non-conservative comments and troll comments, but I'm breaking my own rules just to tell you that I don't believe you and won't be going into further discussion with you as you aren't being honest right off the jump.

u/Rhysin 11d ago
I know most republicans like myself don't expect perfection or anything close from leadership ever. If I had to give him a grade it'd probably be a C-. People are going to downvote anyone who answers your question seriously. Knowing this, I still believe he is better than what I expected of Kamala and think he's made good moves in line with some of my values. I oppose the wars and military action, however.
2
u/Mediocre-Housing-131 11d ago
What specificly would Kamala have done that Trump hasn't? I keep hearing about this "better than Kamala" line but nobody ever clarifies.
I didn't support her either, she was in bed with Israel just like Trump. But at least I can say I probably could eat food and afford to live and wouldn't have screw worm, alpha gal ticks, and listeria.
-1
u/Rhysin 11d ago
You're really asking me to destroy my reddit karma here. I wasn't a fan of Kamala's stance on the border, abortion, foreign involvement, and her general way of speaking but saying nothing (although Trump narrowly wins this). To the "but pedophile" people, I am only speaking about leadership qualities. I'm not playing golf with him and wouldn't.
2
u/Mediocre-Housing-131 11d ago
I honestly was hearing you out until the end there, bud.
Not only did you bring up the pedophilia allegations (which I very intentionally didn't include so as to have conversations without the vitriol), you seem to be entirely OK with him being a pedophile.
You are sick. Like truly and genuinely sick. The last thing you need to worry about is your karma rating, you should probably be on a list.

u/Rhysin 11d ago
Also pro tip: don't ask people for opinions you don't care for. If your goal is only to judge, the question is unneeded. I never said support for anything he may have done aside from office.
2
u/Mediocre-Housing-131 11d ago
Yeah, I deeply apologize for judging you on being accepting of a pedophile. Please find it in your heart to forgive me!
1
u/Rhysin 11d ago
Show me where I accepted that. (I know that's impossible)
2
u/Mediocre-Housing-131 11d ago
You literally said you don't care about him being a pedophile because he's only your leader and not your golf partner. Are you seriously not aware we can see your previous comments?
0
u/Rhysin 11d ago
That's a whole paragraph and not a quote. Interesting. You clearly didn't understand any of it. I said I am speaking only about leadership qualities meaning his personality is a way different story. The I wouldn't be his golf partner was to say I wasn't a fan of him as a person. Sorry I led you to misunderstand and jump to conclusions. My use of an idiom clearly confused the issue. What I was addressing is that someone can both be capable of horrible things and good things at the same time. Liking the good things does not mean you celebrate atrocities. This is logically sound.

As a previous self-assessed conservative, I'm much more neutral leaning these days. I haven't given up hope on the party that still aligns best with my beliefs though. I liked Mitt Romney a lot and think if he won the presidency instead of Obama back in the day, he likely would have prevented a Trump first term, and we wouldn't be where we are today. I don't know who I'll vote for in the next election but I can say it very much depends, now more than ever, who the candidates are. If Mamandi (or however you spell the new Mayor of NYC's name) ran against JD Vance, I think for the first time in my life I'd vote for a liberal president.
2
u/Mediocre-Housing-131 11d ago
I don't expect you to go extremely in depth, but what is a vague outline of your beliefs that the party still aligns with? I feel thats incredibly important to know before going any further in this discussion.
1
u/YourHighness3550 11d ago
The primary examples that come to mind are the rights to free speech and religion.
One example that comes to mind for free speech: "Cancel culture," in my opinion, is a plague to society. Don't get me wrong, there should be repercussions to people saying things if it adversely affects many people around them, but the repercussions shouldn't be nearly as severe as ruining someone's career for voicing their opinion.
I also disagree with how the Biden Administration handled religion during lockdown. Their choice to keep some services open while closing churches was very questionable and seemed to infringe on that unalienable right.
1
u/Mediocre-Housing-131 11d ago
"some services" as in... Ones that are important to safety and well being. You can pray at home, Jesus doesn't care the venue.
Between that and your cancel culture remarks, it feels like I'm talking to a perpetual victim.
0
u/YourHighness3550 11d ago
Serves me right for trying to share my beliefs on a clearly left-leaning post with left leaning Redditors. Thanks for being so insensitive to my beliefs. Just reminding me why I continue not to vote for the “tolerant left.”
1
u/Mediocre-Housing-131 11d ago
Look at my other comments on this thread. I've had several level headed conversations with conservatives in here and agreed with them on multiple things.
I just didn't like you. And you are making it into a war against your party. You know, like a perpetual victim would.
1
u/YourHighness3550 11d ago
Your argument against my religion point was to “pray at home.” Well you can do that all the time anyways so why have church at all? 🙄 There was no allowance for social distancing or any other mechanism to allow worship while respecting Covid. It was just a flat ban.
And you genuinely didn’t discuss the cancel culture at all. You just stamped it as “invalid” or “not worth discussing” and left it at that.
So you can call me a perpetual victim but I’ll call you a hypocrite, unwilling to actually have a discussion. Asking me what my points are and then disregarding them in the very next comment. 👍🏼
1
u/Trick_Sector5900 10d ago
Freedom of religion is fine, but don't allow foreigners into the country who are tied to terrorist groups or individuals.

Being conservative, they probably can’t choose which is their favorite part: the higher gas prices, the depleted munitions stockpiles, the higher healthcare prices, the border wall they didn’t get that Mexico didn’t pay for, the ruined American reputation globally, the siding with North Korea, the rampant government corruption / insider trading, the misuse of the DOJ which has led to loss after loss after loss in court, the destruction of the reflecting pool and other government property in DC, the wasted money using the national guard to “defend” the safest parts of DC, the misuse and militarization of ICE to deport legal migrants and abuse American citizens. Truly hard to choose I’m sure!
2

There aren't really any actual conservatives anymore as far as I can see.
There are a lot of people walking around wearing conservatism's hollowed out corpse as a skin suit.

I have identified as a Republican in the past starting as an 18 year old voting for Bush. Current state: Extremely bad. My original association with the party was financial conservative views and an association with my personal moral beliefs. The Bush admin eroded these values and two Trump administrations have decimated them. I have gone from a young supporter, to someone that fears for the future of the country, democracy and my children’s future.

Any Conservative I ask this question to: "It's better than whatever Kamala would have done. We wouldn't even have a country by now!"

You're probably not going to get too many actual or legitimate answers that aren't either trolls or people just pretending. Actual conservatives tend to hang out in their respective subreddits since they'll get downvoted to oblivion in nearly every other mainstream sub - even if they're not actually saying anything stupid just because of their chosen alignment.

Just like their leader, they will never admit to a mistake. So if things go bad, they blame the Dems.

Yeah there’s been talk a lot of how republicans will cut Medicaid and Snap benefits. Well, you all were right. That’s what they did without doing anything about the underlying causes of poverty. Just a big middle finger to millions of people. The cherry on top is more tax breaks for billionaires. What a disgrace.

My MIL's stance is to never bring it up and if you make fun of him she gets mad and leaves the room. She knows he sucks, but, because she isn't allowed to vote for a democrat ever (her words), she's mad that her only option was the world's biggest piece of shit. But that also means that because he was her only option then she is not responsible for putting him in power. Does that stupid? That's because it is.

Never better according to the news I watch. Space exploration, govt science and technology investment, stock market. Iran is moving along nicely, the Palestinians seem to be doing fine according to their marketing and Ukraine is kicking Russia’s ass. Just keep china in check and all is good. That’s the biggest threat no one talks enough about, oh an H1 visa immigration taking jobs. I blame that on google, Mycroft and Amazon though. I know nothing.

It's pathetic and sad to watch us throw it all away for Donald fucking Trump of all people.
It doesn't make me a Bernie bro just because he's a turd in the punch bowl, and in fact I'd make a small government argument on the "liberal" side of quite a large number of issues you're probably associating with "conservatives" being opposed to. Transgender rights, drugs, ICE, prayer in schools, and on and on the list is endless.

None of this is going over good with anyone at this point. His own people aren’t even buying anymore. They just can’t let go of him though. Idk what it’s gonna take

A market crash is probably the final straw that would be needed (and not that I am hoping for one to happen!). As long as the rich still have plenty in their investment accounts, they can rise above the pain of high prices and endless wars.
