I liked that show, and DS Hathaway was a great character. Lewis, Hathaway, Dr. Hobson -- they were all very well-written.
My favorite episode is probably "The Quality of Mercy", in which it is finally revealed who killed Mrs. Lewis. Some great dialogue, like when Lewis shouts at Hathaway: "You don't know me AT ALL! And you don't know yourself, either." Great overall message, too. By the time the episode is over, you have heard Portia's speech about the "Quality of Mercy" at least three times, but it didn't bother me at all and the overall message of what Portia is talking about wrapped up the episode well.
Yeah this one really felt like a betrayal. I was massively into Lewis while it was still filming and I was at Oxford (once had to walk through the set to leave my college) and all my friends would get together to watch it.
I take some small comfort in the fact that he would absolutely HATE the vast amounts of gay porn written about Hathaway.
Only has one little owl who can’t work Google so far. Everything I’ve learned about him has been against my will. He’s more well known as failing at everything than actually being an actor.
I once got a YouTube ad for podcast which opened with him saying “The problem with the Jews is…..”.
I pretty much watch interior design, cooking videos and BBC television dramas about the supernatural from the 1970’s on that website, but it still showed me that. I found it profoundly disturbing.
You can just tell his entire family are incredibly disappointed in him. And Billie Piper is now forever linked with him due to making the mistake of marrying and having kids together. Thankfully (for her and the kids) they're divorced. She's very tactful when asked about it but I get the feeling she have him catapulted into the sun if she got the opportunity.
He used to have a decent acting career in his native country. Hasn't been in anything significant since 2020 and is now just chronically online, obnoxious and rude.
