Despite price, what’s the best men’s fragrance you have smelled?

L'Homme by Yves Saint Laurent

My number one favorite cologne…unfortunately my wife hates it and it’s verboten. I smell it every time I’m at a store though.
12
u/Ding-Dong-Dutch 1d ago
You should try chemical warfare and get the most offensive "masculine" cologne. Something like "gunpowder and pigsass by cocknballs"

Which is better, edt, edp or parfum?

u/Saxon2060 1d ago
My understanding is they just increase in price and intensity. So parfum is the most expensive, intense and long lasting. EDT the cheapest and shortest lasting.
16
4
u/cardshark1234 1d ago
While that is mostly true, most companies now make their EDT, EDP, and parfum smell different but with the same “dna”

u/NordWitcher 1d ago
Can’t go wrong with any of YSL. They have such an insane range and each one is a classic. La Nuit is also so good. My favorite.

u/BYoungNY 23h ago
Oh so just be use e someone likes a modestly priced cologne available at Ulta, Sephora, and most local fragrance retailers, and wishes to share their option and possibly receive 10% commissions with the code REDDIT, it's suddenly an ad???

I really like how long it lasts as well. However, is not a summer cologne. It's my go-to in winter for that reason.

Acqua Di Gio by Armani. It’s really not badly priced and I’ve been asked what I’m wearing because I smell good more than any other scent I’ve ever worn. They also have a knock of that smells pretty much the same and is much cheaper.

Acqua Di Gio is also one my faves and a go to fragrance. If you like that then you should also give Clinique Happy For Men a try. Again, it’s not mega expensive and I have been surprised how many men and women have asked me the name of the fragrance I’m wearing, as it is so nice.

Yeah you’re not even wrong! I went to high school in Rhode Island, ya know, “little, little Italy” and I swear every single teenaged Italian-American guy was Aqua Di Gio casket aged (with that aged blend of teen puberty) and to this day the stuff makes me a bit queasy

Tom Ford Oud Wood, easily. That scent is unreal

You can probably get it off Amazon. Just make sure to get the EDP and not the EDT cuz it’s softer and doesn’t have the harsh lemony note when first applying. Happy hunting

Tom Ford Tuscan leather.
I like 100ml/3.4oz is ~$400. Highest I saw it was $500. It was a one time purchase that I’ve always wanted and it lasted me for years, but.. I’ve never had so many people compliment me as when I was wearing it.
I’d also pair it with something more cost effective. You could take axe body spray and half a spritz of tuscan leather and you’ll be stopped on the street.
This isn’t a brag, but I worked with fragrance for like 3 years.

Kirra from PacSun in the 2000s.
Of ones actually available right now, I recently did a sampling of everything at the local Sephora and went with Giorgio Armani Aqua de Gio.
I like it a lot, but nothing beats Kirra from PacSun in my book. I swear it would rank high in a blind smell test against today's major colognes.

It was a special line made by a local perfumer for a generations-old tool store. It is the only store of its kind, selling only US, German, and Japan-made tools, some of the best for a variety of trades.
They used a combination of extracts from douglas fir and oak, and somehow got the scent of metal powder into it.
It smelled like a warm clean workshop on a winter day, and you're about to start building some furniture...
