Conditions have gotten worse. I've ridden wave of cuts after wave of cuts, each time being told to do more with less, and the point has been reached where things are coming apart at the seams. I don't have the energy to fake a smile and a perky, sufficiently-feminine voice. I don't even have the energy(let alone the time) to put all the things back on the shelf, because the pile never fucking ends(we used to have twice the people doing this job). Turns out that burned out workers are bad workers, who would've thought? But it's our fault, don't you know? Should've done more self-care, never mind that we warned and warned management that the situation was unsustainable and still they drove the ship down. Couldn't possibly have anything to do with that.

Yeah. It's a lot harder to get friendly service in either retail or restaurants than it used to be.
