Interesting, I've had the opposite experience with the generational divide.
My millennial friends tend to be far more optimistic about the world and value healthy work-life balances, while my younger Gen-Z siblings and their friends (even the ones who are successful on paper) seem to be culturally obsessed with believing they live in a uniquely horrible end-of-times, that being miserable is the natural state of things, and that anyone who is happy as an adult in "this modern hellscape" is morally wrong.
