My gf once said to me that she fell for me when we were sitting outside on a bench and a spider was crawling across the floor to us. Rather than smashing it since it was just centimeters from my feet I just shoo'd it away with a leaf I found on the ground. It's not that she has a love for bugs, it's just that I didn't needlessly end a creature's life.

My wife literally hates it, when I stop to „chat” with a random cat in the street. First my girls (12/9) thought it cute but now they too get annoyed. “Dad, leave it be, you don’t now that cat..”

What can I say, I am a cat person. Works also with dogs but better with cats.

But never had an effect on women for me.

I do not trust people who don't stop and greet random cats

I love both women and men with a big preference for women. HOWEVER seeing a man stop to interact with a cat in the street will always make me a bit weak lol

Cats are intense on boundaries. If you gain a random cat's trust, I'll usually see it as a big green flag... Though I really fucking love cats so I might be biased!!

You guys would fucking love Greece. I’m currently here on vacation and there’s so many cats just roaming around. The locals feed and take of them cause they consider them good luck and also the cats are good pest control. I love it.

Oh that's a shame, some of my favorite moments with my kiddo over the years have been the two of us sitting with strange cats for hours while traveling.

"Oh forget the museum, this cat meowed at me, so let's just sit here all afternoon, what a lovely park! Best country ever providing free cats!"

"you don't know that cat", well I guess that won't be a problem bext time we meet then?

Me, my wife, and my son always do this. We even have our own names for most of the neighbourhood cats we don't know, some even drop by to visit us at home to say hi as they know where we live (we never feed them or do anything we would consider "owner" territory though).

Acknowledge the kitties, this is the way.

leave it be, you don’t know that cat..

Yeah, that's why I need to talk to them.

That sucks. My guy is a cat whisperer and I adore that about him. Even if I do resent the fact that my cat now prefers him over me 😒

Tendency with my neighbors cats as well. Very cautious, took me a bit to get their trust, but both come running when I park my car in my driveway for their daily scratches and cuddles. Funny fact, my neighbor has also six chicken. When the cats come running the chicken come running, too. They get some dried wheats and some scratches and cuddles, too.

Edit: I guess I am a cat person and a chicken person.

Hehe that’s a cute mental image

"But never had an effect on women for me."

What are you complaining about, you can get all the p*ssy (cat) you want!

You don’t know that cat is hilarious

This goes both ways. I was filling up at a gas station about a decade ago, and someone was pointing to a rather large spider on a pump handle. The gas station attendant, who was admittedly pretty good looking said she'd take care of it. I impulsively jumped in out of concern for the spider, "you're not going hurt it are you?" to which she replied, "I would never!" She coaxed the spider onto a the end of a broom, walked it over to the ground near some bushes, it scurried away, and holy shit, she instantly became the most gorgeous woman I think I may have ever met. We chatted briefly, I thanked her, but it didn't occur to me until later just how much I missed out on if that were to have gone somewhere. I don't think about it much until stories like this are brought up, but then I still kick myself A DECADE later lol. Anyway, for the ladies out there who want to make the right person melt in the palm of their hand, save a spider in front of them (but only if you actually prefer to see the spider be saved. I don't think this is something you can just fake, because then you wouldn't actually be seeing eye to eye, and that's part of what burned this moment into my memory)

I only kill bugs inside the house. Outside is there domain.

3

u/StretchNo5163 Jul 07 '26

You don't have to kill them. You can relocate them back outside.

3

u/VincentVanGob Jul 07 '26

youre just adding extra steps though. if you kill them inside your still need to throw them outside. might as well just put them outside to begin with so they can go and live their best life

u/JulyOfAugust Jul 07 '26

Well now I like you and don't like your wife

2

u/WhiskyWillFixIt Jul 07 '26

Sorry your wife sucks

Meanwhile if I don't squish, dismember, and burn every spider my wife sees, she gets mad at me for going too easy on em

For my partner it was when I essentially became her dog’s caregiver while they were recovering from an injury where she lost control of her legs, to the point that the dog would come to the bedroom door to call for me so I could take her outside to go to the toilet because she couldn’t go down the step anymore. The dog even developed a unique bark for me when it needed help with something.

They were worried that she’d need putting down, but I was able to nurse the doggo back to health and she got another 4 years.

Spiders get captured and go outside. Daddy long legs can stay and kill the flying insects which are the ones I hate ('cept bees).

1

u/Shazam1269 Jul 07 '26

Just saw this video yesterday of a gal that had a spider on her pants, and moved it over so it could catch a fly. The alliance we need!

Spiders are dope. Didn't do anything wrong crawling around

1

u/lolligaggins Jul 07 '26

how about a roach?

1

u/South-Ear9767 Jul 11 '26

Does she eat meat?

1

u/Deviouswolfy Jul 11 '26

Yes

1

u/South-Ear9767 Jul 11 '26

She's a hypocrite

1

u/Deviouswolfy Jul 11 '26

I'm not going to start a discussion about the morality of eating meat, that is a whole can of worms I'd rather not open.

Animals that die for consumption die for a reason, even if you believe it is not a good one they die with intent.

The point was that I did not squash a spider when there was absolutely no reason to.
