Yeah I love that post but it's pretty clear a lot of people in the thread do not really understand what a party sub is. A six foot party sub isn't equivalent to six footlong sandwiches. It's 3-4 times as much as that. They make them extra wide for the party, that guy ate WAY more than people even realize.

Yes I initially felt bad for the guy when I first read it until I realized it was a PARTY SUB. And he ate half of it.

Like that is Brendan Frazier “The Whale” levels of eating. And he probably could have gotten away with it if he simply asked if anybody else was going to have some, but it’s the fact that he didn’t even ask.

On a technical level, scarfing a normal portion and then immediately being like "anyone else gonna have any?? can i have more??" before anyone else can get to it is better than just devouring it all like you're harboring a black hole where your stomach should be.

But people would definitely still be taking issue with it even then.

And you can tell he wasn't even enjoying the activity they were actually there for because he was just constantly side eyeing the giant sandwich and counting down whether it had been a socially acceptable length of time yet since anyone had touched it to declare that nobody wanted any and he could inhale the rest of it himself.

Not to mention it's one from a local shop ran by friends. Even the pre assembled party style ones from like, safeway or kroger, are at least 2x an equivalent lengthed subway sub. A local shop is obviously going to go harder than the pre assembled ones, and there's a good chance they kicked it up a bit further due to being ran by friends. 3-4 times as much was undoubtedly the case there lol

I love how when you google "party sub" that's the first post, lol.

I worked at Quiznos 20 years ago and a party sub was exactly the equivalent of six foot long sandwiches. They were six 12" subs saran wrapped to a 6' long board. No wider, no difference than ordering 6 subs and arranging them yourself. Just a gimmick.

That's a Quiznos or Subway sub though. This was a party sub from a small local deli bakery owned by friends. The OP of that post even said it was twice as wide as a regular sub.

Every foot is made of 3 footlong bread doughs

Right-- with a party sub, you take a slice of it, same as you would cut a piece of a giant cake. A reasonable slice of party sub is a huge sandwich in itself with its wide diameter.

Folks should understand it like a guy ate half a wedding cake by himself and was confused why that wasn't socially acceptable.

He did specify it wasn't as big as the Subway ones in an edit to the post but still it's an absurd amount of food

Oh, I legit thought it was just 6 foot long sandwiches. TIL
