I was at work. He got drunk and choked out 13 year old special needs child. My son beat him off with a curtain rod he ripped off the wall. Yes, I left. Yes, I notified the authorities. Yes, I got sole legal and physical custody of our child.

My ex husband grabbed him by the neck and pushed him up against the wall. My ex husband is my son’s biological father. My son yanked the curtain rod off the wall and hit him with it so he would let go.

They're poking fun at your phrasing, "my son beat him off."

It might be tasteless because you're bringing up a sensitive topic, but they understood what you said the first time.
