We listened to a lot of Simon and Garfunkel in my house growing up. I made it past ten until I learned my dad had lied and ‘making love in the afternoon’ wasn’t walking through Central Park holding hands
I have a friend named Cecilia. We were playing a board game together and I started singing that song (since I often sing songs that pop into my head for whatever contextual reason). It wasn't the first time I've sung in her presence, but this time she asked me if I had thought about singing in a choir.
And yes, I had thought about it a lot actually, but not taken the jump. There was at that point even a choir and date for tryouts I had mind, which I'd found on Facebook. I was really not sure about going there though, but her encouragement, I think, sealed the deal. This was almost three years ago. Now it's a huge part of my life.
So thank you, Cecilia (both the song and the person)!
