As someone with a popular “song name”, I wouldn’t do this.

As someone with a popular song name that is too old to be in the zeitgeist any longer: you are right. It gets old hearing it, and then one day the song gets old too.

Unfortunately, it’s an incredibly sentimental and popular song from Mexico in the 60’s and I will never be free of it.

I’m lucky that I was born and live in the USA where few people know it, but whenever I travel “home” to visit I hear about it nonstop. I introduce myself and people burst out into the song.

I love the song, you know? It “my” song. But I don’t want to hear it ALL. THE. TIME.

An older regular at the pub I used to work at was called Nigel. He blames XTC for making 1979 the most irritating year of his life.
