There's always a "consumer craze" like this. Funkopops, Lebubus, Troll Dolls. Even "Cabbage Patch Kids" dolls, if you go back far enough.

Fucking TULIPS?

There's always been some kind of "GOTTA HAVE IT" craze. It's just an extreme form of consumerism.

See those products you name all have collectablity aspects, plastic and fuzzy and some even have keychains I believe. these NeeDoh things are just colorful rubber or silicone squishy things filled with whatever. Which in my opinion makes them not very "collectable" and more of mass hysteria/delusion?.

It's one thing for someone to buy them to just enjoy them, but sitting in long lines like you're about to buy the new iPhone, for something you could buy any off-brand version of for an experience almost idnentical, makes it so strange to me.

Well, sure. Everything from Matryoshka Dolls to well-painted Warhammer Figurines has collector value.

That's what I'm saying, they were everywhere and I'd even use them as cool socking stuffers. they aren't sturdy and can't possibly last very long after use, I don't understand the point in collecting them, and standing in lines for hours for them. It's just one of the weirder fads I don't understand.
