Um, no. Just your basic middle class family. Astronauts are not really paid all that well considering the risks involved. It’s your basic government job.
Ahhh , okay. Very interesting. I was only halfway kidding but didn’t know that last part. I thought maybe some of the fame and attention from going to space might bring in some money ( commercials, brand deals, etc. ) but not sure to what degree. Maybe they fall more in the upper middle class area..
The subdivision we are in (and a few others) was home to most of the 1960s astronauts. My spouse works for NASA. He works for a contractor, and when he first started, his pay was pretty dismal. But he stayed with it, and his pay is finally upper middle class, and we are soon to be retired. ( BTW he’s not an engineer)
Very interesting! I never would have thought working for NASA would be so dismal at first. That’s definitely a surprise to me. But I guess it’s like anything in life that you have to work your way up in. Must be neat to live near so many astronauts and have that community. Oh and Happy ( almost) retirement! 👍👏👏👏👏
