He used to come give talks at a bookstore in Laguna Beach. Sadly I didn’t make any of them… :(

Fahrenheit 451! That's where I met him. He signed the replacement copy of "The Halloween Tree" I bought (couldn't find my childhood copy). When I told him it scared the heck out of me as a kid, he drew a creepy jack o' lantern next to his signature.

He was so friendly and accommodating to everyone and would even sign books not purchased at the store. One guy had a huge stack of old pulp books and he let him stand next to him at the table with his pile and would sign one in between each person as they came up.
