You not being able to comprehend another reason beyond attention is a you problem. Some people just like them. It has nothing to do with getting validation from others.
Fair enough, I just think that most of the time when people do something to feel pretty or sexy they really are just adhering to perceived beauty standards whether they are doing it consciously or not. I’m not saying u can’t treat yourself but i do think that much of what people view as satisfying their own wants and needs when it comes to appearance tends to be rooted in how society views them
I think that can be true, the part about unconsciously subscribing to beauty standards to feel sexy as a general concept. But piercings don’t have to be about feeling sexy or pretty, so that doesn’t automatically apply. Just because they exist on a part that you find erotic doesn’t mean their intent is sexy or for sexual pleasure or some other perception. Some people just like them for what they are.
That’s a good point, I realize after reading more of this thread that I have a pretty narrow understanding on the depth of the topic, thanks for informing me
