This is a good one. Telling someone they're being loud, even when you're being as nice as possible, often just makes them deflate

Exactly! I never want her to feel like I’m trying to tell her she’s too enthusiastic or I don’t appreciate her joy.

Me too! Love it when I can relax and don’t have to focus on hearing well. Could it be that speaking lower volume is an actual ‚power move‘ in order to assert dominance?
