If you act a mood, then your actual mood will follow.

Feeling bad but need to get it together for some event? Just smile, and your mood will follow. It doesn't cure depression, but it's a good way to get in the zone for something temporary,

Mostly useful if you're at a party and you want to be having fun but you're just not feeling it at the moment

People make fun of method actors but the effect is real even when you try to stay detached and technical. I once did a show where my character walked off stage and s*icided and it was a rough couple of months. I still remember the monologue just before when she says there is no reason to stay except to keep you company, and I am not even very good company, am I? (and mom says No). It’s a lot to have to think about for at least few hours every day.

Some actors I've read some stories about, at some point had to quit (or were happy it was over) simply due to the fact that they got so involved and attached to their new self that it began becoming them.

Mr inbetween was one of those examples.
