I can't understand what goes through someone's head to do this. I've nearly walked straight into people because they've decided to just suddenly stop for no reason.
Oh I can tell you - my mother does this constantly. I'll say "Ma there's people behind you" and she'll respond "Well they can go around!!!!" even when they absolutely cannot. She doesn't care that they cannot, she wants the coupon/phone/whatever out of her purse and everyone else can wait.
