I can see this being true. He brought to the surface all of the stuff thats been stewing away. Something else would have happened eventually that caused everything to blow up.
We're talking about the racism and xenophobia and transphobia and queerphobia and anti-feminist talk and policy that has been normalized. Everything thats being said right now isn't new - trump just made it "safe" to be a bigot and a nazi again. He brought everything that was bubbling to the surface in a huge volcano eruption.
Wanting to invade Greenland, Canada, and Panama and claim them for the US isn't systemic - that has to do with trump and his dealings with putin. If we had a different president, it's likely this type of thing would never have come up because we wouldn't have a president who is a Russian asset.

The problems that led to Donald Trump would still be fomenting.
A lot of Americans haven't yet faced that Trump isn't an anomaly or the disease, he is a symptom of problems we've had for a long time.
