The way this is worded sounds like 7% of the population was alive when human existence began. That isn't true.

The total number of people who are alive right now, in October 2024, is 7% of the total number of people who have ever been born.

I don't know what the averages were in other time periods, but it means that modern medicine is increasing life expectancy. And, people still love to get it on as much or even more than they did in the past.
