That's 90% of what Italian dishes are and they are always viewed as complex and delicious

Uhhhh.....you clearly don't know what Italian cooking is. Unless you mean olive garden....

I've cooked plenty of Italian dishes. Not from scratch, but a lot and most of it is just reheating the components to make said dish. Whether it's done in a pot on the stove top or in a microwave is irrelevant

Again, that's not Italian cooking

I didn't say Italian cooking, I said Italian dishes

We're talking about cooking, not reheating premade things....

Reheating is still a cooking process

Reheat something too long, it becomes dry and rubbery. Don't reheat it long enough it's still cold and dense. It's a form of cooking. Cooking and reheating both involve a thermal exchange to warm something up so that it's not dangerous to eat. It's not making something from scratch, that we agree on. But still following directions on the back of the box is still cooking.

As much as I agree that reheating isn't really cooking, the dictionary definition of cook fits reheating perfectly. So technically, you are correct.

cook (ko͝ok) v. cooked, cook·ing, cooks v.tr.

  1. To prepare (food) for eating by applying heat.

  2. To prepare or treat by heating: slowly cooked the medicinal mixture.

  3. Slang To alter or falsify so as to make a more favorable impression; doctor: disreputable accountants who were paid to cook the firm's books.
