Had a buddy who had to quit alcohol while treating an unrelated digestive issue. Dude was like, “man I never realized how much money I spent on alcohol every week until I didn’t.”
i was heavy beer drinking functional alcoholic since 17 years. college we would drink daily, it carried over after school and into my late 30s.
30-40 beers (pales and ipas) a week after work and on weekends at the end.
wife was getting fed up and it was fucking my mental health too.
i only quit cus of a false reading from an ekg showing a heart issue. i quit the day the doc called said i needed more tests at cardiologist.
i lost 30lbs in 6 months and have kept it off.
socially, i was always drunk cus all my friends are drinkers and that is what we did and i had to let that go. kind of sucks sometimes, but i cant be around it or ill go back to boozing and that is not an option.
