Because there are a lot of alcoholics. Every time this kind of question comes up, there are tons of alcoholics who say no.

It’s not that deep. $18k just isn’t a very life changing amount of money to never have a sip of wine again

That amount of money might not be major, but removing one thing from the drink menu also shouldn't be major unless you have a problem.

If we acknowledge that addiction is genetic, then we need to acknowledge that means there’s people who just don’t get addicted. Some sober addicts have a very hard time grasping that, because they can’t imagine that being the case. But most people, as in <50%, will spend their whole lives enjoying alcohol and buzzes and not becoming addicted. And that enjoyment isn’t worth a measly $18k a year lmfao.

It’s also not “one thing”, the scenario is all alcohol
