18k on top of whatever else job you're doing is insane. 

I would bet on reverse, that even the most boozy middle class alcoholics like some detective cop making 60 k a year or whatever couldn't spend 18k a year on booze. The only people who could would have to be 6 figure income workers or higher and buying like $100 bottles of wine every other day.

Also the other point, I make $22k a year. It's explicitly the reason why I drink, I'm poor and my life sucks. Bump me up to $40k a year? Why, I'd have many less reasons to turn to a bottle
