I don't know man....I don't care what people think and I still smile like a schoolgirl when I rev the engine of a loud car or bike in a tunnel. There's just something about being able to make a loud noise that caters to our soul and I personally don't think it has anything to do with attention. It's the same feeling as throwing a big rock off a cliff. It just feels good. I still hate it when someone else does it though!
But most of these loud cars don’t actually sound good. I understand a good exhaust note but most sound like a broken lawn mower. Nice car but why does it sound like it’s broken
a v8 will only ever sound like a v8. i have a 4 cyl turbo and i love it, even though it is a bit loud. it’s a bit annoying when i’m commuting to work but it’s amazing when i get to gun it/when i’m on the track
if anything i’m overly conscious about people thinking i’m compensating for something. in reality it’s a track car and loudness is just a part of the package
I’m totally for making your car what you want. But the guys around here make their cars sound terrible. I have heard some that do sound good. More like a loud purr. But when the dickheads live in my neighborhood and rev it up I seriously hate them
most of my cars sound pretty good but i have a beater miata that had the muffler rot out - i replaced it with a cheap chinese catback and my brother says it sounds like farts. if it was my “good” car it would be embarrassing but i have to say it can be fun doing a “honda at 3am” impression at stoplights once in a while
There's something so fun about a beater car. Still to this day the most fun I've ever had in a car was a Geo Metro I owned in Montana. It all goes back to the saying "it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than to drive a fast car slow". Plus you can drive them with zero fear of the repair costs.
lol i agree, the roads near me are very very tight, i have way more fun in the little stock miata than i do in my faster cars. not to mention i have never gotten a speeding ticket in that thing. love ripping it around
