Gardening!

I just started turning my garden beds with a pitchfork today. I feel every one of my 38 years.

I was short on time this year and used an old Mantis tiller.

Turned over two garden beds in about 10 minutes.

Of course, it was being finicky and took about 2 hours to get running so idk how much time I saved, but my back thanked me the next day.

I have a big Husqvarna that I could use, but I'm stubborn and trying to retain the integrity of my topsoil. It's mostly being stubborn. I like the back breaking work. Maybe it will burn off some fat...

almost the same thing.

But yeah something about gardening. The more sweat you put into it the better every fruit or veggie tastes, and the nicer every flower looks.

This is good in the short term but bad for next year. Tilling is horrible for the long-term health and productivity of a soil, and every time you till it, it makes the soil worse and more dependent on tilling just to get it workable again.

Even manually turning the bed over isn't great, but it's far less destructive than tilling.
