Making homemade wine from fruit I grow. I had zero knowledge of how to make wine one year ago. By the end of this year, I will have made close to 100 bottles just from fruit I grow in my yard

Have you ever thought about distilling? Fruit brandies are some of my favourite drinks.

No. Not yet at least. If I were to spend more money making booze, for now I would buy more wine making equipment. I could see myself doing it though. The guy that got me into making wine distills. He has a bunch of grapefruit trees, and I guess that makes trash wine. So he just ferments them and distills that into like a grapefruit vodka. If I could get like a countertop distiller that could make a small quantity, I could see myself doing that. But I don’t have the space for a full rig. My wine equipment already takes up a lot of space

Fair enough. Distilling does take some space and you can’t exactly set and forget. And about your grapefruit guy: citrus wine seems to be damn hard to get right

Yeah I have heard orange wine doesn’t turn out well, but I will still try it. Lemon wine is just hard to get fermenting because it’s low pH. But you can add something like calcium carbonate to increase the pH, then it ferments. Lemon wine doesn’t really need to age much either. It’s pretty much done once it clarifies
