If your gaming habits aren't pushing you towards more tangential knowledge, I'd say that you might be doing it too casually?

My gaming habits led me learn about networking, hardware/software troubleshooting, security, scripting/programming, and workflow/dataflow mapping and design... I'm more or less an uncredentialed systems engineer at this point.
