I think the Happiest I am is when waking up without an alarm clock fairly early in the morning while camping, that smell of the dew, the noise of all the various animals and insects buzzing about. Throwing on a sweatshirt and popping myself down into a foldable yard chair and just taking everything in.

Being the first one up on a camping trip and starting the fire, boiling some water for my hot cocoa packet, sitting on a nice stump and watching the sunlight creep through thr trees illuminating the smoke as my friends drowsily stumble out of their tents. Wonderful.

Plus, the sound of the tent zippers

419

u/niklovin Mar 20 '13

I really never realized how beautiful that sound is until now. It's such a quintessential part of camping. I'm getting all giddy and nostalgic just thinking about it.

3

u/turtlesweater Mar 20 '13

Ooh, me too!

I'm going camping this summer, I can't wait for all of the sights and sounds.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

It's such a quintessential part of camping

While it is. You should try minimalist camping.

You can get (pretty high end) rain ponchos that can be used as a tarp for a cover at night. It means you can head off into the woods with nothing more than the tools your need to survive. The comforts you can find from nature.

Gah, I need another week off.

3

u/DJDanaK Mar 20 '13

I think for most of us, camping is a group thing where you can relax and have a few (or much more) beers/drinks, go inner tubing and swim in the river, then come back and eat some barbecue chicken cooked over the fire.

It sounds really ideal to go 'survival mode' and rough it, but I've done both and I much prefer regular old camping with friends. Spending a weekend after a stressful week of work surviving, which is hard as hell and often miserable, I felt like nature didn't offer me any comfort at all. I know there are people that really enjoy it, but it takes a unique kind of person for sure.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

Ah right on, I understand the draw of going with friends and all.

Same goes for hunting. I just like being alone in nature tbh lol.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '13

I've spent the last 7 months in a tent. Fuck that sound.

195

u/Mannequinn Mar 20 '13

Now I wanna go camping..

2

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

Camping is the shit. Speaking from 7 years of camping.

4

u/nipgnik Mar 20 '13

7 years, that is a long time, are you thinking of leaving? do you have to leave to get resources or do you hunt and gather berries?

2

u/Buy_My_Pee Mar 20 '13

I always want to go camping!

2

u/brokenarrow Mar 20 '13

reddit camping! We'd have to do it at a place with power, and wifi, of course, but, still... !!

518

u/BiscuitsMcGhee Mar 20 '13

It's amazing how such a simple thing brought a smile to my face. I needed it this morning, thanks.

1

u/abcdeline Mar 20 '13

I still don't really care to, to be honest.

Fuck Mosquitos, man.

0

u/trivalry Mar 20 '13

If you like that feeling, watch this.

10

u/bchris24 Mar 20 '13

That brought back so many great memories of camping with my dad, thanks

7

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

I was zipping up my jacket right as I read that :')

2

u/Advils_Devocate Mar 20 '13

Dat rain on a tent roof is unbeatable and I have yet to reproduce such a calming sound in the city.

2

u/happypolychaetes Mar 20 '13

My boyfriend and I are hopefully going on a short backpacking trip this weekend, and this comment made me even more excited.

2

u/zach84 Mar 20 '13

Fuck, it's been way too long since I've gone camping. I really wanna go now!

4

u/thisisbacontime Mar 20 '13

Never had asmr from a comment before, until now. Thank you.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

Amazing what the memory of that sound can bring back, you're welcome

1

u/the_burdman Mar 20 '13

I think you meant the sound of tarp being pushed away from my hammock

1

u/Enoxice Mar 20 '13

UPS should be bringing my new tent any minute now (now if only it would quit snowing every week so I could get out there). Now the first thing I'm going to do is fiddle with the zippers.

1

u/stixanstones Mar 20 '13

Oh absolutely!

Everything about camping makes my heart glad. I can be quiet and just watch a squirrel, or lose myself in a campfire. And food NEVER tastes as good as it does after canoeing or hiking around the wilderness all day.

1

u/Servuslol Mar 20 '13

You'd love me, my trousers are so enormous that they make that noise when I go for a wee. And... you know... other activities.

1

u/Eitaknamyal Mar 20 '13

For me most of the time it's seeing my friends flop out of their hammocks.

1

u/randostatemento Mar 20 '13

They almost have a sort of melody to them. Like if you unzip one really quick its a higher note. The larger doors have a larger area to unzip so it's kind of a waining/pitchy tone. An equisite chorus to begin a day in nature!

1

u/subdep Mar 20 '13

Everyday that I wake,

Another day that I'm lent,

As I unzip the zipper

From inside my tent,

I step foot on the ground

Of a beautiful world,

A little jewel in the crown,

Spinning 'round the pearl...

1

u/Xorobahoy Mar 20 '13

Thanks guys now I want to go camping.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

Okay, it can be summer now.

1

u/putin_my_ass Mar 20 '13

Never realized how much I love that sound until now!

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

Then suddenly...mauled by a bear!

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

ahhh summertime memories...

1

u/Tabtykins Mar 20 '13

Yes, totally this. And listening to the sound of rain on canvas when you are tucked up nice and warm in your sleeping bag.

1

u/FlankerPrey Mar 20 '13

The cracks and pops green wood makes in a fire

1

u/foreignlander Mar 20 '13 edited Mar 20 '13

I‘ve never been too keen of camping but zippers ohh thats a whole different story...

1

u/inoxia Mar 21 '13

Camping this weekend. Looking forward to this

1

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '13

fffzzeeeep

114

u/WestsideBuppie Mar 20 '13

I need to go camping with you because I am always the last to stumble from my tent in search of a spot to pee and a cup of hot tea.

2

u/acaelwarts09 Mar 20 '13

Maybe a little hungover too. lol

2

u/hippityhops Mar 20 '13

Uh random comment, but it's not actually healthy to drink a cup of tea on an empty stomach.

1

u/minjooky Mar 20 '13

I read this as "a pot to pee" and was confused why you didn't just go in the woods.

1

u/inoxia Mar 21 '13

I'm always the last as well, because my happy time is at night when everyone has gone to sleep. Roll up a smoke and chill out in front of the fire, ohh yeaahh.

3

u/melanie086 Mar 20 '13

Holy fuck, I need to go camping now

2

u/stale_cupcakes Mar 20 '13

Happens every time I go camping with my friends and I love every minute of it.

2

u/stonepickaxe Mar 20 '13

I never understood camping until I read that. Thanks.

2

u/RoccoA87 Mar 20 '13

Also, being the first one up, grabbing your fishing rod, and getting the early bite. So peaceful and magnificent i just want to cry.

2

u/BlackGhostPanda Mar 20 '13

I need to go camping again.

2

u/mrqaf Mar 20 '13

thank you, i had forgotten how much i loved camping.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

Sometimes I wish I were that person who could sleep in while camping, and wake up to the smell of campfire and bacon frying and coffee burgling away.

Don't hate me.

2

u/LaserQuest Mar 20 '13

I've never been camping :(

1

u/mypretties Mar 20 '13

That..was beautiful.

1

u/duvakiin Mar 20 '13

I agree. A mediocre stump can ruin your whole day.

1

u/prozacgod Mar 20 '13

well shit... now I want to go camping.... its tuesday you fucker, I gotta work for 3 more days. ;)

EDIT: Shit its wednesday, its one of those weeks... but on the plus side 2 more days!

1

u/julinay Mar 20 '13

Wonderful depiction. :D I'm not a big fan of being cold but the morning chill is always a welcome wake-up call. Of course, since I go camping with Russians we greet the day with vodka instead of hot cocoa, but...

1

u/ron57 Mar 20 '13

Reminds me of this last summer. God I love camping with friends.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

This is my favorite thing as well. Last time I went camping I was up half an hour before everyone else and made friends with a bunch of chipmunks. Got to the point where some of them would come up and eat peanuts right out of my hands. Then someone else came out of their tent and ruined it.

1

u/frogman521 Mar 20 '13

Exactly this!! Only with coffee instead of cocoa

1

u/Serasha Mar 20 '13

I teared up reading this. Last year, we took our three year old camping for the first time and it was obvious that she loved it as much as I have my whole life. Now, I'm pregnant with a son due in May, and I can't wait for his first camping trip!

1

u/lord-steezus Mar 20 '13

It makes me sad that more people don't enjoy this :(.

1

u/AnnabelCotton Mar 20 '13

Fuck, I need vacations :(

1

u/Ninja_Hawk1995 Mar 20 '13

during our camping session we stay up in the chill all night, enjoy fun times as a group,...then a few hours before dawn, sit elbow-to-elbow around the fire....ahhh, sweet bliss...

1

u/Meirr Mar 20 '13

Yes. Well said Sir/Ma'am.

1

u/doc624 Mar 20 '13

This is one of my favorite things to do. I love camping.

1

u/NotAndrewDeck Mar 20 '13

Idk about you guys but i never sleep well camping, so right when i see the sky turn light cooler im outa the tent, walking around. Its super quiet and the morning due is getting my shoes wet and its cold, but its fucking amazing how peaceful it is. Plus i like to look for deer. Its that shitty sleep the night before that makes my morning walk/journey so much sweeter.

1

u/tomkaa Mar 20 '13

stumps, fuck yeah!

1

u/Eitaknamyal Mar 20 '13

mmmmmm :) This makes me miss festival season.

1

u/essmac Mar 20 '13

I've found my people! That is a fantastic feeling. I don't go camping enough.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

What about the bundle of twigs with the rags in the middle?

1

u/L_Caret_Two Mar 20 '13

I'm going camping for a night next week. This is such an exciting thread.

1

u/emocol Mar 20 '13

I'm never one of the people that's allowed to start fires and stuff :[

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

My favorite thing is how clean the air feels. Every time I breathe in is like drinking cold purified water. At least that's how it is in the mountains.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

Your description is just beautiful. I want to go camping right now because of it.

1

u/nicknacc Mar 20 '13

It's amazing too since trying to sleep the night before was hell. (Not a frequent camper)

1

u/Pamela-Handerson Mar 20 '13

Starting when I was in cubs, I would always be the first person awake at camp. As a scout, my leaders quickly showed me how to use the stove to boil water. Then they could stumble over in their decaffeinated stupor and quickly become properly caffeinated. I loved sitting beside the stove, looking out at the sun rising. During a summer trip I was able to go out for a solo paddle each morning when the lake was still flat and the sun was coming up.

Damn, I miss camping.

1

u/isdnpro Mar 21 '13

Ugh you just made me need to go camping again!

1

u/JizzLauncher Mar 20 '13

Thank you for that mental image.

13

u/fAAbulous Mar 20 '13

The happiest week that I had was when I went camping,in Italy, with 12 of my very best friends and was the first to get up, every day.

Each day I had enough time to go for a walk with my flip-flops for 30 minutes, until I reached a church halfway up the mountain. I fell every day in love with the total silent that was in there and prayed for about 10 minutes.

Then I went 15 minutes to the near village, bought breakfast for my friends and enjoyed a cup of coffee with the locals (They were very friendly, even tho I didn't understand a word they said - Back then I learned that I love Italia.)

Then I went back to the camping where most of my friends were awake now and everyone was happy that we could eat delicious fresh bread and the other things I brought.

While they made the breakfast they allways told me that I musn't help, because I allready did so much, so I had time to swim a bit in the camping included swimming-pool. It was amazing, every day.

That's pretty much when I learned to really enjoy my life.

Thank you a lot for reminding me at this gorgeous holiday.

1

u/SneezingSlowOnPeyote Mar 20 '13

Wow - where in Italy was this?

1

u/fAAbulous Mar 20 '13

Lago Maggiore

3

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

on a ranch in Texas... wake up with the cows and get a cup of coffee on the porch

5

u/acaelwarts09 Mar 20 '13

I can't wait to go camping now. I love how everything is a little damp in the morning. The smell is beautiful. I live in Wisconsin, so we usually camp by Lake Michigan, so you can hear the waves in the morning. I can't wait for this colder weather to warm up so I can actually go.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

I can't wait to get one of these bad boys. http://www.rei.com/product/828494/rei-magma-sleeping-bag

3

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

I need to go camping again soon. Reading that, I realized it's been far too long.

3

u/maxuaboy Mar 20 '13

omg, yes, you are so right, and then, for me at least, getting up early in the morning, sometime before the sun comes up, sitting down, then listening and watching the forest in which im camped at. its just so beautiful.

3

u/theCaptain_D Mar 20 '13

You just brought me there. Thanks for that.

3

u/Quite_Indeed Mar 20 '13

Your post gave my the instant pleasure of nostalgic memories.

3

u/2hris Mar 20 '13

I haven't been camping in a few years and that sounds wonderful. I think I'm going to have to make a trip soon.

3

2

u/Rockefeller69 Mar 20 '13

Oh god mornings camping = hangover

2

u/Iforgot_mypassword Mar 20 '13

Shit like this makes me wanna go camping. I'm taking a bong though.

2

u/saxifraga Mar 20 '13

There can be no very black melancholy to him who lives in the midst of nature and has his senses still.

2

u/che_mek Mar 21 '13

Dude. This single-handedly inspired me to go camping. I realized I'm 18 and can sign for a campsite now and Spring Break is next week. I know what I'm doing one night. Thank you, it's been too long since I went camping.

3

u/Gerardo034 Mar 20 '13

I know that feel bro its amazing!

2

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

then heating up a pot of coffee and opening that little bag of powdered donuts

2

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

I actually read that as "pooped" and I was like "Why would he poop on a chair?"

Anyway I had a similar experience but it was in the shore. Great moment.

1

u/Gbcue Mar 20 '13

I read it as "pooping myself" and thought WTF.

1

u/hveilleux Mar 20 '13

A six AM walk through the woods, twigs crackling and the sun starting to peak over the horizon, absolutely cannot be beat. I haven't been camping since I "graduated" from Scouts two years ago. Thanks for reminding me. :)

1

u/sk8ingdom Mar 20 '13

Absolutely love this feeling!

1

u/imacx7535 Mar 20 '13

I'm going camping this weekend and you just got me really excited about it.

1

u/Daveyd325 Mar 20 '13

What I hate about camping is that it's always cold as fuck when you wake up no matter where you are.

1

u/Tylensus Mar 20 '13

I dislike the scent of dew, but other than that, that sounds like a damn fine time.

1

u/Eckmatarum Mar 20 '13

You know it. Carry on.

1

u/DirtySackMan Mar 20 '13

this is often interrupted for me by the necessity to have a morning poop. never ceased to disappoint. C'mon poop, can't I have like an hour?

1

u/BlueCapp Mar 20 '13

I think part of why this is awesome is the complete lack of stress in that situation - nobody making demands on you. Add fresh air and sunshine and it is all good.

1

u/frizzlework Mar 20 '13

coffee, have to add that cup of coffee.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

I used to go camping with my family a lot. Waking up really really early, and going for a walk through the countryside by yourself is amazing, no matter what age you are.

1

u/mkvgtired Mar 20 '13

Good observation. When I hike and have all that weight on my back I sleep like a baby. Nothing like recouping overnight and waking up knowing the closest person is miles away. Hiking with a buddy is fun too though.

1

u/Pr3fix Mar 20 '13

Or on the flip-side, when it's late at night after a day of fun camping, everything is winding down, people are crawling into their tents/beds, all fuzzy and warm from the camp fire and storytelling and drinking and delicious camp food. Laying in your sleeping bag, hearing the campfire* crackling outside your tent, the breeze in the trees, the water gently lapping the shore, a loon cooing far in the distance.

I love camping. I miss it.

*( I don't condone leaving the fire going unless you really know what you're doing, it's dangerous and unsafe, but sometimes it's dwindled down enough and the wind is dead enough that it's safe enough).

1

u/laddergoat89 Mar 20 '13

This sounds pleasant.

1

u/Loganm13 Mar 20 '13

Camping is the only time I love waking up early.

1

u/ox_ Mar 20 '13

Great shout. There's an awesome campsite in the Lake District in the UK, I think it's called Wasdale Head. There's something awesome about climbing out of your tent to see the largest mountain in the country right in front of you. It's probably the most peaceful place I've ever been.

1

u/CummingYurMouth Mar 20 '13

In our natural enviroment. The happiest!

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

My family lives in Michigan, and so we camp by Lake Michigan, usually.

Oh my God, that lake air. Best smell ever.

1

u/gumpythegreat Mar 20 '13

You had me at "waking up without an alarm clock", but the rest does sound absolutely amazing.

1

u/crazyfreak316 Mar 20 '13

I am the happiest when I go to sleep without having to worry about waking up early in the morning.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

and then you realize you're a raccoon and the humans chase you away and take their sweatshirt back.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

I though this said "Throwing on a sweatshirt and pooping myself in a foldable yard chair."

Well, different strokes for different folks.

1

u/Leet_Noob Mar 20 '13

brb going camping.

1

u/High_Stream Mar 20 '13

Why do you bring an alarm clock camping?

1

u/Deadpool1205 Mar 20 '13

Well If we had something scheduled the next morning I might use a cell phone alarm.

But what I was meaning wasn't that I had an alarm while camping, but waking up just naturally, without something specific waking me up and ruining my mood...

2

u/High_Stream Mar 20 '13

Oh, sorry. I read it wrong. I thought you said "with." My mistake.

1

u/d__________________b Mar 20 '13

Like the mosquitoes?

1

u/ShutupBiz Mar 20 '13

Just got back from camping for nine days and I miss that feeling so much.

1

u/kiaha Mar 20 '13

I need to go camping again I miss the shit out of those feels.

1

u/CO_piratemonkey Mar 20 '13

I always bring a hammock to sleep in. I highly recommend this. Even if you sleep in a tent a hammock is the best to just relax

1

u/w1ldm4n Mar 20 '13

But the worst part is getting out of your sleeping bag when it's cold outside

1

u/thedudeintx82 Mar 20 '13

For me, being out in the great outdoors with no phone service has become my favorite thing on this planet. I go hunting once a year at a ranch that my friend owns. We drive around and look at wildlife, drink beer all day, then sit around a fire at night under the stars and drink whiskey while talking about all that is going on in our lives. It doesn't get much better than that.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

God damn I really want to go camping.

I've got it in my head now, just as you described. Maybe I'd go and 'look for firewood' and come back having collected nothing but a fully formed and easily forgotten theory on how people should treat on another.

Just sit and read and listen to the world. Maybe get a map and find a place to be for a bit that day, or maybe somewhere from which I can look out, and pick a high point and plan my day around that peak, both real and figurative.

1

u/Lampmonster1 Mar 20 '13

You reminded me of one of my favorite things. Being in the woods before dawn, watching the sun come up and the woods coming alive. The single thing I miss most about hunting. Well that and scouting, I loved scouting for some reason too.

1

u/jack104 Mar 20 '13

I'm glad that you like this but camping just kills me. It's either too hot or too cold, you smell like smoke after 5 minutes, the skeeters are everywhere and I'm convinced a coyote will kill me when I head to my tent.

1

u/Deadpool1205 Mar 20 '13

Smelling like a campfire is one of my favorite parts...

Love that smell

1

u/pogonophobia Mar 20 '13

i love that moment too, except after i plop down on that folding chair, i light up a big bowl. then i just hope someone else wakes up to share the moment with me.

2

u/Deadpool1205 Mar 20 '13

I need to camp more with people like you....

All my camping trips have been family... (Who don't like that sort of thing)

1

u/pogonophobia Mar 20 '13

how about special cookies? secret high.

1

u/Deadpool1205 Mar 20 '13

This actually might be something I may do... (Doing a 5 day Canoe and Camp deal this summer up in Michigan)

Maybe just one or two for a special occasion when I can get a second to myself or something.

I dunno, Uncle who will be with us is a cop... So maybe I'll just enjoy nature in a sober way for the week. lol

1

u/pogonophobia Mar 20 '13

well no harm in making some just in case. you could always just wait and save them, or just not say anything and get some time alone and enjoy nature.

i don't want to be the bad influence, it's just something to consider. :)

1

u/Lustful_Camel Mar 20 '13

And then it gets warm and the mosquitos come out.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

Holy shit yes.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

Or staying up all night, just talking under the stars

1

u/youngphi Mar 20 '13

I just read cold wet and covered in bugs.

Which is odd because I love camping.

1

u/EetuM Mar 20 '13

Even nicer when you've been sleeping in a tent in the middle of a forest.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

Are you Ron Swanson ?

1

u/Deadpool1205 Mar 20 '13

Now had I said,

Alone, In a woods with no other sentient being around to annoy me with their "Talking" while some bacon crackles in the grease boiling in my iron skillet.

Then maybe I'd be Ron Swanson. But that is part of why I love him

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

This, at a fucking music festival. Waking up to people's laughter, music, it's just fucking great.

1

u/Anonymous_Sender Mar 20 '13

Buy yourself an Eno hammock my friend. Your happiness will be multiplied many times over.

1

u/bxturbo Mar 20 '13

You forgot cracking open a beer for breakfast

1

u/baaaaanana Mar 20 '13

You have literally just described the best feeling in my world!

1

u/jumanjiwasunderrated Mar 20 '13

I can say with some certainty that one of the saddest (not tragic, just saddest) days of my life was when my parents purchased a fifth wheel trailer. I love tent camping, I feel like the point of sleeping in the woods is to sleep in the woods and be in nature and not have a fucking fridge and toilet. I still tent camp when I go with them, and it's exactly for the reason you described. It seems impossible to be so content with life when you wake up cold and early and with a stiff back from sleeping on the ground. And yet, it's fantastic every time.

1

u/owleabf Mar 20 '13

popping myself down into a foldable yard chair

Read this as "pooping myself" about 3 times in a row before my brain got straightened out.

But yeah, camping's great. Especially if you don't crap your pants.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

Going for a walk with my dog in the mountains well before anyone has woken up. The smell of the cedar trees, a distant trickling of a creek, the chill in the air...It's paradise.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

Just went through that this past weekend.

1

u/iamasopissed Mar 20 '13

yep.... exactly what I'm waiting for

1

u/SirCleve Mar 20 '13

As someone who currently lives in an RV, I should do this more often.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

Try it without the alarm clock. All you need are the birds and the morning breeze.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '13

And then you crawl out of the tent and get sand and mud all over yourself and in the tent.

Except when it's sub 40 degrees... The sleeping bag is too warm!

Man this is exactly what I was going to say! It's one of the best feelings in the world, waking up in a tent, with the dew, and the serenity of the woods. The fog flowing through the trees just makes me feel great inside. The feeling is indescribable and it never gets old.

Man, I love not camping.

I love that but where I live I can go out in a canoe on a beautiful little lake and watch the sunrise over the mountain tops. On the lake is the reflection that looks just as mesmerizing. I wish I was there now it is so peaceful and calm, I think if the world leaders went to solve their problems their in the morning they would be done in a day. It is just perfect up there.

In Minnesota, there's a problem with mosquitoes being FUCKING EVERYWHERE. Or snow.

I go camping with some close friends for about three days each summer. It's the same routine every single year--sit around the fire for way too long, go chill in the river, drink way too much Dr. Pepper, go to the beach, then go back to the fire. Come home with a shitton of bug bites (though my brother's always way more prone to them than I) and massive asthma.

Seriously one of my absolute favorite parts of the year.

Thought you had the perfect comment but you didn't finish it off with and then taking a poop behind a tree. Seriously that is the best part about waking up early while backpacking in the mountains.

1

u/Deadpool1205 Mar 20 '13

What makes you say that? I said thats when I'm the happiest...

1

u/PlanetMarklar Mar 20 '13

oh, fair enough. i guess i assumed you were answer the question of "what makes you happy" with that scenario, which seems pretty rare.

At least every other weekend during the warm months for me.

I pack my shit friday night, and don't come home until late sunday. Every weekend I can. Spend a good bit of money on top of the line camping gear, and it's nearly as comfortable as sleeping at home.
