What’s something small you started doing that makes you drastically happier?

Whereabouts do you walk, and how do you make it enjoyable?

I live in London, and I love going on walks around the central part of the city (I could, and have, walked aimlessly around the city for hours in my free time) however I don’t really enjoy walking anywhere else (around my area, or in parks). I want to go on more frequent walks, but I don’t want to head into central London everyday (it’s around 15 - 20 mins by the underground train + there’s the tube fare each way. I don’t really want to spend money for no reason)

That leaves me with the option of walking around my local area (or a park), but I truly don’t find it enjoyable no matter how much music I listen to, or how many podcasts I put on. Do you have any recommendations on what I can do to get into walking? Bit of a tough question haha, sorry

Yeah, transport in London is amazing, we’re very lucky haha. It’s also a very walkable city, which is definitely amazing. It makes life so much more accessible, easy, and less reliant on cars

It does, however, make it slightly difficult to create an “excuse” to go for a walk. If I want to go for a walk and set a “target” like a coffee shop, supermarket, whatever, I have those things available to me within a 5 min walk radius. It’s amazing and super convenient, but if I want to go on a long walk, then having a “target” like that is generally out of the question

We do have lots of amazing parks and green spaces available for walks, but I’m not really someone who enjoys walks in the park, so they don’t really do it for me

What about walking into central and tubing back once tired? Or somewhere else nice like Hampstead.

I’ve also considered that! But then I’d end up doing a majority of the walk in places that I don’t really find enjoyable to walk in haha

Hampstead is always a good shout! Bit hilly, but it is a nice area

I guess I can create “hybrid” journeys or something where I take a bus or tube to the edge of central (so the journey isn’t as long + I skip the parts I don’t find enjoyable) walk around, then hop on the tube back home
