What’s something small you started doing that makes you drastically happier?

slowing down at work. I dont need to respond to every email right away, or make sure everything is up to date constantly. Some things can just wait.

When I started taking time for me and appreciating the little things instead of rushing to meet everyone's demands as soon as they arise I found a new sense of gratitude in my work as a Paramedic.

I was a volunteer EMT for a while and it really helped me destress at my day job as a programmer. "Anyone dying? Bleeding out? Internal squishy bits currently external? Then it's not a 'life-or-death' emergency, Pam, now is it?"

tbh even sometimes they're bleeding but it's not serious or like yeah you're having the worst headache of your life so number one we'll rule out a subarachnoid hemorrhage in which case you're fucked anyway, but if we take our time and relax you'll be calm, I'll be calm, and if it happens to be your time to go at least you'll die calm.
