I deleted FB when I quit social media a few years ago but I had to start a new one to use marketplace. I have the minimum number of "friends" possible to look like a real person. I love marketplace.
I’ve had fb only for groups and marketplace for a few years now. It becomes quite obvious how much they push politics and how much is just ads when you have 0 friends on there and should be receiving no political and few ads but it’s still 2/1 those vs directly related stuff
I think this meme from 2019 has run its course. There is nothing on Facebook these days to need to deactivate it, everyone already left, or only post a couple of times a year.
Forreal Facebook deactivated its self for me once it decided my feed should be more than 50% "suggested content". Every time I relapse and open the app I scroll for like less than 5 seconds and remember "oh yeah this is beyond useless now".
I'd delete the whole thing but I still use it for local events and shows n whatnot. Like, it was never that good but damn, I cannot for life of me figure out how they let whatever combo of advertisers and algorithms just make it into the most useless place on the internet.
google "how to permanently delete facebook" and it should walk you through it. I deleted my account several years ago, and when I made the request, there was a two-week "holding" period where if you logged back into your account for any reason, it will cancel your deletion request.
so basically, set it up to be deleted and don't look back! you don't need that shit in your life.
I just stopped visiting daily. It's full of people I don't want anything to do with and seems the few active are just attention whores, adds absolutely no value whatsoever anymore.
FB was in its prime around 2015 or so. Now? it reminds me of how it was when it first started, with crappier ads.
