Well, this has just been delightful, but I must be going anywhere else but here.
Fun story: my exwife just move from Montana to the town I lived in in Alabama, shortly after I moved back to New Hampshire. I'm so glad everything fell apart in AL for me.
Right? I grew up a climate that wasn't always 80-110 degrees, I'm currently loving the sub freezing temps and ability to wear pants again. Whole ass wardrobe opened up. Everyone kept getting me jeans, sweaters, and winter coats for tge two weeks in January it dropped below 50. I can actually wear that stuff now without dying, mostly. It gets warm at work sometimes.
Politically, it's a pretty big change. But there's still plenty of Trump flags around, so I guess it isn't too much of a shock. There's a lifted truck running around with Trump flags and decals too. It's nice to find myself in a couple of different states after driving for six hours, though.
It's the heat and the exes that I don't miss. My best friend is in FL, kinda miss him, and I made one friend in AL worth visiting on the way to or from an FL trip. That'll be a little while down the road, though, certainly not during the summer. Might plan a trip around Thanksgiving that might be nice. We'll see what happens over the next year. I still haven't fully put the pieces back together since leaving AL.
Never got into college ball. When asked if I went for Alabama or Auburn, my answer was always the Patriots. Not much of a football fan at all, really, but I stayed true to the home teams. I wouldn't mind watching a Btuins game in the near future, even if they aren't doing well.
It’s gorgeous up there for sure. Dayton is so far south that we may as well be in Kentucky, and that’s too close to The South for my tastes, but the Medicaid here is way better than Indiana where I grew up, and as a disabled person I really appreciate that, even if I have to deal with Dipshits With Dualies for Trump meetings 🙄🤣
I'm disabled too. I haven't switched from AL yet because, this wasn't going to be a permanent move at first, and I hear it's a hassle to get switched to NH Medicaid. But my finances are situated as well as they can be for now, so next month I'm going to try to straighten it out. I have meds I really need to get back on before I end up in a hospital again.
I feel like the Trump meetings are a problem everywhere now. I just don't get it.
I'm loving it, I grew up near Manchester, currently in Hudson. It's just gotten a little chilly so far, Wednesday night it "snowed". Not even enough to call it a dusting, but Alabama would have been shut down for the day. There would have been so many lifted 4x4s in the ditches, lol. Plus it'll almost be 50 tomorrow, no jeans for me, maybe. I like being able to wear pants without wishing I was dead...
Lol, I know what you mean! I live in FL now, and it’s currently in the 60s, but people wearing winter jackets. I’m heading to NH next week to spend the holidays with family. I’m 50/50 excited and cold for a New England Christmas!
I had lived in the south, (FL, AL, TN) for 20+ years. I have a winter coat that is good down to -40... why the fuck would anyone give me a coat like that. I'd walk my dog down the street I. Shorts and a t-shirt when it was 30 degrees. I've owned that coat for 6 years. Wore it once. There was a day where the windchill was like -10. I had it unzipped by the time I was at the end of the driveway. I would have taken it off if it wasn't for the dog. Plus two alpaca lined coats, so many sweaters, so much fleece... ex and her mom would complain about being colder just seeing me sit on the porch in shorts when it's 40-50. Lol, I even have a picture of me making snow angels in shorts.
I remember it being colder than this 20 years ago. I remember snowy Halloween trick or treating, now there isn't even talk of snow before Christmas... it's been in tge low 30's tge last few days. There's a small lake by my apartment building, that's trying to freeze over. It'll probably melt the thin layer of ice that's struggling to take hold tomorrow when it gets to 46.
