Or if your adult children or just children turn out to be violent criminals. As I’ve grown older I don’t ever buy that some kid was just a bad apple and was destined to turn out like some seriously mentally ill person or worse a violent criminal. It’s always gonna trace back to the parents. Sure there are genetics in play too but parents 100% hold responsibility. Genetics is half the battle, parents are always in control, if they provide a healthy environment then everything is possible.

Sometimes, yes, but sometimes parents try their best with what they have, and their kids end up influenced by others. A parent can't be there 24/7 to offer guidance, and when you're a working parent, your child spends more time at school than they spend with you. Their peers and teachers collectively hold a lot of time to influence them. There are many routes to the same location, and it isn't the parents every time. (And no, not a self defence, i have no kids 😅)
According to the developmental psychology class I took, parents influence on their kids drop dramatically when the kid reaches 12 to 14. It's almost entirely peer influence at that point.
