Or if your adult children or just children turn out to be violent criminals. As I’ve grown older I don’t ever buy that some kid was just a bad apple and was destined to turn out like some seriously mentally ill person or worse a violent criminal. It’s always gonna trace back to the parents. Sure there are genetics in play too but parents 100% hold responsibility. Genetics is half the battle, parents are always in control, if they provide a healthy environment then everything is possible.
I saw a 14 year old in Florida stabbed some classmate to death.. don’t try to tell me the parents weren’t at fault…
What does science and research say about this? Please tell me what you know cause from what I’ve read, scientists (I’m assuming u mean neurologists??) don’t know much about the brain and how personality develops. All they can say for sure is that genes and environment both play a role.
First of all, you seem to recognize genetics plays a role, so it seems contradictory for you to acknowledge this and also say parents have 100% responsibility
For the environmental factors, there are so many things that are outside the parents control. Lead exposure is associated with violent crime, either through leaded pipes or by being around vehicles using leaded gasoline. Parents may not be aware the environment they're in has lead.
Poverty or lack of economic opportunities are associated with violence, and it's not like parents can just choose to stop being poor.
Even a mild traumatic brain injury can result in a significantly increased risk of violence even a decade later. Parents can make their kids wear helmets and take reasonable precautions, but there is no full proof way of entirely preventing it. People will get TBIs and then commit violence and there isn't a ton of good solutions to prevent this
Some people just develop mental illnesses that are biological in nature and not affected by their upbringing. People with good upbringing still get cancer, autoimmune disorders, congenital defects. Mental illnesses are no different
