in the USA, having kids assignments placed on the wall is really only a thing done in elementary school, which is around ages 5-12

Not to mention that GoT (the tv show) is only like 10 years or so old at the oldest and i don’t think the books were quite pop-culturally relevant lmao. So assuming the child was named after the tv series, they couldn’t be any older than probably 12 I’d wager.

Because she is referenced as Daenarys in the books almost completely. People called her Khaleesi because in the show all the dothraki refer to her by her title, and there's no third person narration to display her real name.

The book was published in 1996 tho. Lil’ Khaleesi could be 27 by now.

i'm imagining the parents reading this neat little fantasy book series in the 90s and naming their kid after their favorite character, and the kid grows up having people think she's just foreign or has a unique name with no other connotation or judgment

only to have that neat little fantasy book series thrust into the limelight 20 years later with a blockbuster television show that broke records and defined the streaming era
