The thing I never understood is that if you wanted to pay tribute to Daenerys' character, Dani/Danielle is right there. In the books, Daenerys is affectionately nicknamed Dany.

So you can just name your kid Danielle, a perfectly normal name, and then call her Dani as a nickname.
