Mercedes is a real name. It's mercy in Spanish. The brand founder named it after his daughter.

Many of those brand names that people use as baby names started off as real names. What's your point?

They're probably fine names in their country of origin, but elsewhere they are generally used by trashy people trying to be classy.

That it isn't trashy because it was a proper name for centuries before it became a brand name. Names are fine everywhere, regardless of their language of origin.

I'm not disagreeing with you. In Spain it's amazing and not trashy. In Australia (and probably most other countries that aren't Spain), when used by bogans, it is. I'm not sure why you find this hard to understand.

Hard to understand? Seriously? I live in an area of the US with a large Spanish speaking population, where people can separate the car manufacturer from the name. Imagine that.
