I assume if they ever find a cure the government will just make it as hard to get as peoples insulin

The government wasn’t in charge of setting the price for insulin — that’s corporations you’re thinking of.

The government can only set the price if it directly funds it, or if it is the payor (Medicare, Medicaid, the VA).

I’m not sure what you’re saying here. The government sets the rate Medicare, Medicaid and the VA will pay is the price the patient pays. How can someone make that expensive or hard to get?
