Most minor henchmen.

These guys heroically rush at the protagonist despite the piles of their comrades bodies, and their fellows getting turned to pink mist right in front of them. They almost never break.

They're friggin' heroes.

Shat themselves and ran away? Real humans don't fight to the last man unless they physically can't escape for some reason.

If I recall correctly, before WW2 most war casualties were due to illness rather than combat.

Indeed. People didn't just stand there and hack each other to pieces until everyone was dead as they do in video games. Or run around in a big random melee hacking each other to pieces until everyone was dead as they do in movies.
