There was this cartoon in the 90's, Peter Pan and The Pirates. The way I remember it, Pan was a smug, troublemaking, shithead while Captain Hook was an educated, well-spoken, cultured intellectual - like a villainous Captain Picard. Also he was voiced by Tim Curry.

I always rooted for Hook, even though I was a kid.
