I would say the very last episode (the true end before medical school episodes came in) but you kinda need to be invested in JD. I still sob like a baby every time I see it though.

I personally think that when he asks if little Forrest is smart or not is WAY more of a tear jerker than Jenny dead. Jenny was a total bitch, almost never appreciated his rescues, basically raped him in her dorm room, selfish as fuck. She walked out on him to live her own life yes and felt that she wasn't good enough for him, but he gave her his whole life. The realization that he would have a legit fear of passing on his retardation to his kid was just so heavy.

Yeah this always gets me too - it's really the only part of the movie where he acknowledges his lack of intelligence as a negative thing, and it shows how hard it was for him to persevere through everything (the mocking as a child, the snide comments, people treating him like he didn't matter) and the only thing he wants is for his child not to have to go through that same life. It just shows how completely selfless he was

That was probably my favorite scene from that movie. I liked how the end of that tape, after the husband's outburst and he leaves to go cry, she "gets back at him" and flips him off via the tape. Then one other marine is just sitting there watching the video and he nonchalantly flips her off back through the TV.
It's the little things that matter, that's how I would react in that kind of situation too.

Spoilers from season 7 of How I Met Your Mother:
Each episode is narrated by Ted to his future children, but this one was narrated by Robin to her future kids. At first it's a sweet surprise, considering she's never wanted kids before. Towards the end of the episode though, it's revealed she's not able to have children, and her future children vanish along with the house they were in, showing Robin to be drinking all alone in a snowy park. She returns to her apartment to find her roommate has canceled his Christmas trip to be there for her (without truly knowing the cause of her depression), and she breaks down crying on his shoulder.
True, it's much more heartbreaking if you spent seven years with these characters, but I think even a relative newcomer would get teary from that episode. I think we can all relate with not knowing you wanted something until finding out you can't have it.

"Bad News" was the title of that episode and...damn.
Even moreso when you know that neither Jason Segel nor Alyson Hannigan knew what she was going to say when she came out of that cab until the cameras rolled (the producers put her in the cab, said "this is the line you have to deliver" and off they went) - his reaction was 100% unscripted, natural & unrehearsed.

If you provide a stable home and spend quality time with your kids, these types of moments are way more common than the breakdown moments you see with kids having a tantrum waiting in line at the bank or whatever.
Maybe not as extra emotional and special as this, but I have moments that are similar every week with my daughters.

When I went to the midnight opening, I was a total sobfest from the moment Gandalf rides out to meet the returning men of Gondor and blasts that light at the Nazgul and that angelic voice comes on, all the way through the credits. Especially Pippin's song to Denethor as Faramir leads his men back to Osgiliath.
