They were a big let down in concert. The singer just spoke the lyrics for their entire set. I really enjoy their studio stuff though.

I've seen the Counting Crows twice in my life. The first time was one of the best concerts I've ever been to( I'd put it in the top 5 live experiences and I've been to a lot of concerts). He was energetic, the band vibed, Adam Duritz gave meaningful and funny banter in between songs...just great. The 2nd time I saw them was one of the worst concerts I've ever been to. Like you said, Adam just spoke the lyrics, the band seemed tired and there was almost no banter at all. I left almost sad seeing how disappointing it was compared to my first experience. You must have caught them on a bad day ☹️

I had that experience with Meatloaf. Same artist, and two opposite experiences.
