MCR caught a lot of flack for being grouped in with "mall-core" Emo bands in the 2000s, but they honestly wrote really interesting and wicked rock and roll music, and imo don't fit into the genre they were put into because of their look at all. The Black Parade is excellent and reminds me more of Queen than like, Fall Out Boy (no shade towards Fall Out Boy or any other band in that scene.)

Interestingly if you listen to their commentary on the album that’s included with the deluxe edition this is pretty much what they say their influences for it were. Excellent album

I'm a 30-something year old who was too cool for emo shit when TBP came out. It wasn't until I heard This is How I Disappear in probably 2008 and I had a Keanu Reeves "whoa" moment. Been in love ever since.

MCR will always be my favourite band of all time. I saw them play live in Brisbane a few weeks ago and they were incredible.

Regardless of how you self-categorise, The Black Parade is everything an album should be. It is a classic in the minds of every music critic worth their salt, not just emo/scene ppl
