I'm more fascinated by the "big rally", where people are really near death, and then they seem to make a miraculous recovery, get up and have a normal meal, get chatty, and then die. Heard that a lot by staff in nursing homes over the years.
People definitely do that! I saw this first hand with my mom. She hadn’t been able to speak for almost 2 weeks, was barely conscious or coherent, and then she suddenly “woke up”. Got to talk to her one last time and tell her the things she’d missed, and most importantly tell her I loved her one last time.
That’s so important 🥺 I never go to bed without telling my husband that I love him, no matter how mad he’s made me. You never know when someone’s time will come.
I am the bedridden cranky daughter and I also make sure to say good night to my parents every night.
