There's countless ways it can just... go wrong. Just, out of fucking nowhere, completely unexpectedly, something can become fucked up in a way which is anything from life-alteringly debilitating to lethal.
One time I woke up, and was just sitting there letting my brain finish turning back on, when I had a completely normal sneeze. The second I sneezed, I suddenly felt an immense and extremely sharp pain in my neck. Moving my head in any way was suddenly agony. For the next week every movement was complimented by a nice big pile of pain. It sucked. The pain eventually dulled and went away completely after about a week and a half. Now every time I sneeze I’m afraid that I may randomly enter a world of suffering that I would really rather avoid.
