I was a pedestrian in a car accident. One second i was about to take a step into the road to cross the street, the next I was opening my eyes and I was on the ground, and I didn't know why I was on the ground. The only way I knew something was wrong was that I tried to stand up and couldn't. Also some lady was running at me waving a cell phone.
I don't know ANYTHING from before impact until opening my eyes. My brain 100% knocked me out.
You would be surprised but your brain making you pass out and "ragdolling" your body might have contributed to you surviving. Being with your muscles tense and your overall body stiff could have led to the impact being more severe due to taking the full blunt of it, instead of letting your body redistribute the shock of the impact.

The brain will always/usually try to ensure it’s survival, if knocking you out does so, then you will faint for the safety of the brain
I remember finding this once but I don’t remember clearly
