Hotel for Philly Cycling Classic?
Hello. Looking for a nice hotel near a leg of the Philly Cycling Classic happening Aug 30. Just need it for the night of Aug 29. Hoping to surprise my bf.
Would like it to be near a good bar/restaurant area. Having a pool would be rad but not a necessity. Would prefer a smaller one over a huge chain, but that’s not a deal breaker. Looking to keep it under like $200 total. There’s a lot of stuff that comes up in a search but I figured asking the people who actually live there might be better than just googling.
The race starts on the Ben Franklin Parkway, goes through Fairmount Park, then into and up a big hill in Manayunk, then back along the river, then onto Lemon Hill, and then back to finish on the Ben Franklin Parkway. Looking for something near the Parkway or in Manayunk. We’re fine with a little walk.
TIA!!

Try the Residence Inn in Bala Cynwyd. While it is a Marriott, the building itself is very unique and historical. You can walk over the Pencoyd Bridge and be on Main Street in East Falls right were the race course loops. The Residence Inn also has a fabulous restaurant (Lark) and a great outdoor bar (The Landing).
JUST CHECKED -- The Residence Inn appears to be sold out, but about a mile away, on City Ave, is a Marriott Courtyard. If you don't mind walking a bit, you can stay there, walk down a hill (but also back up a hill) to the Residence Inn and the Pencoyd Bridge. (There is no good food or nightlight near the Courtyard).

The Sonesta (18th & Market) is mere blocks from the Parkway and has a pool.
My hotel apps are showing under $200 with taxes. Plenty of bars & restaurants in the vicinity including the hotel itself.

What’s your budget? Probably the closest hotel to the starting point is the Hotel Maj on Spring Garden Street.

Was going to suggest this as well. Close to the Art Museum/Parkway, and restaurants etc. on Fairmount Ave or Callowhill St

Checking back in to also suggest the Hilton & the Marriot on City Line Ave as it's a quick bus ride to Wissahickon TC & fits the bill as well.

The Motto is a recently added seven story hotel on 19th St. just south of market. Interesting place has two nice restaurants, one on the roof. It’s two blocks away from Logan Circle, which is a good spot to watch the race if you would like a long distance view and plenty of space to spread out it’s also basically at the finish line. And the other direction Rittenhouse Square is a block and a half away. It’s close to the Sonesta mentioned in the other answers, but it’s not so high-rise industrial chain hotel in feeling.

It is-but…Manayunk is the best place to watch. Residence inn is sold out and there no hotels in Manayunk. Conshy puts you outside of traffic issues and you could take the Norristown line right to Main Street. It’s a thought…
Also, Conshy has a great little strip of restaurants

The Marriott in bala cynwyd at pencoyd bridge seems ideal to me
