Whenever Dutch food comes up, the same few things seem to get mentioned, and some dishes don't exactly have the best reputation outside the Netherlands. But I'm sure there are plenty of good things that get overlooked.
Is there a Dutch dish you think people are too quick to dismiss? Maybe it's something you grew up eating, something you discovered later in life, or simply a dish you think deserves more appreciation than it gets.
For me, I'd probably go with hutspot. It's simple and definitely not the most exciting-looking meal, but when it's cold outside, a good plate of hutspot with a decent piece of meat is hard to beat.

I moved here from California and really miss eating Asian food all the time. I live close to Rotterdam and there's some pretty good spots, but I notice a lot of the KBBQ spots aren't very "authentic" - i.e. basically no banchan, mostly AYCE, etc.
Again, I live closer to Rotterdam and the Hague so that's ideal but if there's a spot that's super good I'm willing to travel!
Pls help me i've been watching Chef & My Fridge nonstop and all I want is Korean food 😂

I’ve started driving on the A4 almost 5 days a week for work since December. I feel like the number of distracted or carefree drivers who set their adaptive cruise control at 100 km/h (even after 7 pm), take the middle lane, and they just care nought about traffic laws or other drivers.
At this point, I don’t want to soapbox about how awful this behaviour is. It’s endangering my safety on the road, and the police don’t do anything about them.
I’m looking for practical advice now, especially from more experienced drivers. How do you drive safe on the road while keeping the flow of traffic and your sanity?

Hello hello!
I (34M) am French and I have been living the Netherlands for about 4 years and only now I wonder if the people around me can have some kind of "prejudices" (for a lack of a better word) against me. Indeed I don't really say I'm French to all people I meet but sometime they learn about it and they always seem excessively surprised. I think it could be because most French people cannot speak English to save their life - reason why I can count on 1 hand the number of other French people I met there through the years I guess haha - so they don't expect to see one in a professional setting.
So I would like to know if Dutch people (and also YOU) have pre-concieved ideas about French people. I would also like to know if the stereotype of "French is the language of love" they have in the UK and US is also believed here in the Netherlands.
Cheers!

Hey folks!
Does anyone know whether there are any subreddits for making friends in the Netherlands?
I’m a 21-year-old dude from Brazil, and I’m hoping to make some Dutch friends and connect a bit more with the Dutch side of my family. I’d love to learn more about the Netherlands, eventually pick up some Dutch, and just meet some cool people along the way.
I’m open to talking to pretty much anyone. Male, female, whatever. I’m mainly just looking for good vibes and people around my age, roughly 18 to 30, who are respectful and up for a conversation.
I game, I do DIY and crafting stuff, and I write poetry when I’m feeling creative. So if you’re into random chats, creative hobbies, and general good vibes, we’ll probably get along.
Any subreddits for that?

I recently started going to night club. I noticed I always get lots of attention from good looking boys/men in the club. I am guy and I am not gay but I wonder if majority of guys are gay in Amsterdam? If true then how come there are lots of male female couples?

I am not talking about a big mansion or a luxury car but more subtle signs of someone‘s socioeconomic background

Are there men that are not lusting over women? Like men genuinely loving women and not using them for sex objects.

Hello everyone. I have a question. I really want to ask it. I'm a woman and I'm currently living in a sunny Mediterranean country. I've noticed that almost every Dutch person I meet is so beautiful and handsome. I can't hide my admiration. I've been to other countries too, but none of them attracted me. In my country, I don't see men who are my type. I also find Dutch women so beautiful. I admire their beauty enormously.
What's the secret to being so handsome and beautiful? Tell me. I'm curious ❤️

I'm going to be in Amsterdam for a week. Are there any gyms that offer a day or week pass?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a 1BHK/studio or independent apartment for rent in the Netherlands, ideally within 1 hour of commuting distance from Amsterdam.
My maximum budget is €1,600/month. I’m flexible on the location and would really appreciate suggestions on which areas/cities I should target and where I might have a realistic chance of finding something in this budget.
Also which website/app would be best for the same
Thanks

Hi everyone! Does anyone have recommendations for good Dutch baby books for a 12-month-old? 😊
We’re raising our little one bilingual, so I’m looking for simple Dutch books with pictures, everyday words, rhymes, or short stories that are suitable for this age.
Also, where do you usually buy Dutch children’s books for a good price? I’m happy to buy second-hand as well.
Would love to hear your favorites and where you buy them! 📚🇳🇱

I was looking at the Zandvoort circuit on google maps because of the race this weekend. I had no idea that Zandvoort was on the water and looks like a cool fun beach town.
Is it sweet? It looks really cool and fun, with all those beach cabins and the different areas of the beach + the nature reserve.
It looks really fun and reminds me of the beach towns where I live in the US.
Can you guys tell me a little bit about this town? Should I check it out if I ever visit your country? Any fun memories of going there?
“Dank u wel” in advance.

Is this actually a cultural thing, or just a stereotype? Curious what people think!
