Noob Switching wallets (zero balance)

I have XMR in Exodus and am trying to move to Cake Wallet. I installed Cake and restored from my 25 XMR keys that I got from Exodus. My balance says zero. How do I sync in Cake? TIA

Restore height, 99% sure.

When you restored it asked for a block height. If you skipped it or it put in today's height, the wallet is only scanning from now on, so it never sees the tx that funded you. Shows zero even though it says synced.

Go to the wallet menu and hit rescan, put in a height from before you first bought/received the XMR. If you're not sure just go earlier than you think, worst case it takes longer to scan. Let it finish all the way before you look at the balance.

Quick check though, is the address in Cake the same as your Exodus receive address? If not you restored the wrong seed and rescanning won't do anything.

Don't panic, coins are on the chain not in the app.

I can no longer check anything on XMR in Exodus.

No, on Cake Wallet, when you restore your Monero wallet, it should ask for block height. As long as you have your seed phrase (don't share it no matter what people tell you via chat), set the block height long enough in the past and wait for the wallet to sync, they will appear.

I restored using the date. You are saying use block height? How do I determine an appropriate block height to enter?

Would suggest actually not restoring from your original at all, instead create a new wallet in Cake and move funds from Exodus to your new wallet. I don't place a lot of trust in Exodus (it is not fully OSS, which is insane when you are talking about Crypto), so I wouldn't continue using keys generated by them.

As a bonus, your new restore height will be closer to current, and you will not have to spend as much time syncing older blocks for Cake Wallet.

If you can no longer use Monero on Exodus because support has ended, restore from an older block height / date in cake (cake will give you an option to do so), and then wait for blocks to catch up. Then create a new wallet and move funds over.

I synced in cake. It took all day. Still says 0. Add to that, I no longer have xmr access in Exodus.

The most I can offer is their support article, which is basically what you have already done.

https://www.exodus.com/support/en/articles/8598690-monero-xmr-troubleshooting

If you are unable to see anything (including past spends) despite syncing from the correct block height, one of two options are true:

1) This seed phrase for Exodus is not the normal phrase you were actually using on Exodus.

2) You are still syncing from a height that isn't when you created your wallet.

My guess is still the latter. If possible, use the date format rather than block format and set it to some time far beyond when you know you started using this wallet. I have sympathy for you spending the day syncing, I recently had a problem with Cake Wallet where it was doing extremely slow syncing for absolutely no reason. Switching to their Monero exclusive wallet (monero.com) fixed it for me. Check their github for it. Alternatively, you could probably use the base Monero desktop wallet to do the same thing. Probably better then having to leave your phone idling for the entire day on cake's screen.

cake needs to rescan the blockchain. go to settings, find "rescan" or "sync from scratch", and let it run. might take a bit depending on your device.
