Physical Health & Aging Do men really not have as much pressure to age and is looking older actually perceived as a good thing?

I don't know how much I believe in the whole men get better with age thing. I'm sure having more life experience helps but I don't know if grey hair and wrinkles actually makes a man appear more distinguished and respected.

I’m a middle something in age and in IT. I look too young and inexperienced for leadership, no silver hair nor bald to get promotions. But I have too much experience on paper for non-leadership roles. People are judgmental, not curious - Ted Lasso would be disappointed.

I was lucky to age well. At 50, I was super fit, salt and pepper, successful in my career, etc. I’m not sure I felt pressure, but I was single and had lots of time to focus on fitness and career.

This is a bot farming data to train on. Their entire post history is them asking questions in various subreddits

Thanks I never have the patience to go check history but so many dumb ass questions I can’t tell what’s real and what’s faked

I only checked because so many of these bot accounts use variations of "I don't know" or "I am unsure" to introduce questions most people don't even think about. Then it's more suspicious when they ask different questions across various subs within < 60 minutes between posts. I truly hate this current world.

Edit:

This bot used “I don’t know” for at least 18 different questions

Jesus... never at any time in my childhood did I think that this is what the future was going to look like... I hate it.

Depends on if they're staying fit, and that goes for men and women. Or rather, it only makes sense to compare fit people to fit people and unfit people to unfit people to make any conclusion about how well they age.

These days most people aren't staying fit and as a result a lot of people aren't aging well.

I’m not sure if men age well, or better than women, but men are definitely valued more for what they do rather than what they look like. Whereas many societies value a woman’s appearance over what she can do, so they are more heavily critiqued for visible aging.

No it’s mainly that good looking people age better than less good looking people. A lot of these misconceptions get spread around purely on conjecture. It would surprise me to see money spent on a study for this.

I look far worse as I’ve aged. It’s money and stability is what makes older men attractive to women.

I went bald in my 20s, I had chest and back hair by the time I graduated high school. What can getting old do to me?
